Hi everyone !

I'm working on a white water pin that has a sling issue.

I tested the switches, they're good, i put my meter to the coil and both slings are at about 13.5 ohms of resistance.

The coil wont fire in the test menu, the wires look good.

I tested the fuses and they all pass however, most of them have some corrosion and some look like they're coming un-done.

I haven't tested the drive board transistors because i've never done it. Does the driver board need to be disconnected from the machine completely and out of the back box ?

From what i understand i can either ground out and then drag the red lead over the transistor heads until i see or hear a closed circuit or i can touch the ground lead to the top of the transistor and test the two outside "legs" looking for the same number on each leg.

Sound about right ?

I think it's either the fuses or the driverboard transistor.

P.s.

Some other stuff isn't working either, like the ball lock isn't shooting out a new ball in play, the game has to ball search and barf one out.

Thanks for any help !

So far everything checks out. Replaced a fuse, still no dice.

I didnt test the pnp to -92 2n5401 transistors yet. The pin wiki is vague on the testing of it. It tells me to put the red lead on the center legs and then test the other legs for a reading in the .4 to .6 volts .....

I assume i need to have my dmm set to volts ac with the machine on ?

I havent tried grounding the transistor out and trying to fire the coil. Never done it and not sure how.

Anyhoo ...

Hi LTG thanks for the reply,

When it comes to testing any transistor for voltage, it's always DC then ?

thank you so much for the info really appreciate it !

I'm going to re-test the sling transistor but this time look for voltage.

Charlie thank you so much for the clarification !

I followed LTG's directions and grounded out the transistor and it fired !

So basically, I figure the coils are all daisy chained together, and somewhere in the line one of them has a broken connection. Time to pop the hood again and take a closer look !

I found two coil's that had really bad cold solder joints. re did them and the sling fires ! Played an 80,000,000 game and everything works again !

Quoted from LTG:

No, if it fired the issue isn't a break in the wiring. The transistor and upstream from it on the board is the issue.
LTG : )

hey LTG, you think I got it or there's possibly more in store ?

Quoted from northvibe:

What two coils?

In the very back the VUK by insanity falls, and then the one on the left for the bounce back.

Thanks again everyone !

HEY !!! GUESS WHAT ! lol

Right sling won't fire again.

I went through everything under the playfield, I figure it's like you said, something up stream from the transistor.

Am I in for a treat ?
