I’ve had an issue develop with my Slick Chick. It was working fine, but suddenly the side rollovers (1,2,3 and 4) stopped scoring 30 points. The number lights work properly, that is sequentially go out which lights the special hole, but no 30 points per rollover. Relay “Z” (30 point relay) looks fine, ie soldered joints intact and switches cleaned and in alignment. The Z relay triggers appropriately when rollover switch is made (all 4) and score motor rotates 120 degrees. I checked the score motor switches as best I could since it is not a flip up type, but is bolted down to the box. But the 50 point targets (Slick, Chick and SlickChick) are working and scoring properly. Attached are a few schematic sheets. Any thoughts or ideas? My thanks in advance.

Does the 30 Point relay (Z) stay activated for pretty much the full 1/3 motor revolution?

Check the motor 4C and motor 1D switches. They should both be closed (making contact) when the motor is in the home position. If either of these switches is open all of the time, you won't get any score from the Z relay.

The 50 point score uses the same drive circuit as the 30 point score, except for the above two motor switches and the switch on the Z relay. So if the 50 point score is working, it strongly suggests there is a fault at one of these places. Note that you may have a detached/broken wire at the solder lug of a switch, rather than a switch contact not making properly.

Relay Z does four things, as indicated by Contacts: 4A in the relay table. If you push (carefully) on the armature of Z, you can verify that it holds itself on for the duration of the 120-degree cycle of the motor.

The line used exclusively for scoring the 30 points starts with the blk & red running vertically from 5H to 7H, then it goes through Motor 1D, then (as orange & red) goes to Motor 4C, then (as green & red) to a switch on Z, then (as yel-blu-red) to M, the 10 point relay. All this is downstream of Motor 1A, which gave you five pulses per cycle. The Motor 1D and Motor 4C each eliminate one pulse, leaving 3 pulses that make it through to M, hence 30 points. I agree that Motor 1D is hard to get at, but if you can jump around it, the rollovers would score 40 points. Likewise, if you leave Motor 1D in the circuit but use a jumper to circumvent that Motor 4C switch, you would get 40 points when the game is working properly. Keep in mind that when using a jumper wire, you could attach at any exposed point, like getting the blk & red wherever is most convenient and getting orange & red at the Motor 4C solder tab (which is on top where you can see it).

If you discover that Motor 1D is the suspect, then you can unfasten as many screws as it takes to get to where you can adjust it.

Quoted from dmarston:

The motor 1D level is above the top cam. On this game, the only thing in its way would be the motor 1E switch stack. Maybe you are thinking of the motor 1A level? I do agree that the motor 1A level can be very difficult to get at. But, since the 50 point score is working properly, the motor 1A level switch seems to be OK.

Howard, yes, 30 point relay stays activated for the full 1/3 revolution.

TimMe, 4C and 1D were closed, but I flexstoned them both and now the 30 point rollovers are all scoring! Unfortunately, in my haste in anticipation, I cleaned them both before testing, so I don’t know which one was the culprit, but it now scores and I am much relieved and obliged. Thank you!
