Quoted from etlandfill:Done! And $50 donated to the Huntsville Community Food Bank! Thanks, Skypilot!
Love it!
Nice! Looks like a homebrew taking shape, very cool! I finished my jy restore using pilot’s rotesserie and now am doing a homebrew on it — I love the design with the storage below. Added some tool storage on one end, and used the sides to act like a cabinet with flipper buttons installed and fliptronic opto boards mounted.

That's a great idea! It is a homebrew and I have custom electronics that I'm also developing, so mounting them directly to the sides will really help troubleshoot. That will be added today

Awesome! Custom electrocnics — ambitious! Good luck that plywood board with all my FAST boards and power supplies slips underneath, if you look carefully at first picture — easy in/out for working on it but tucks away when you are focused on pf design and mechs and such.. just a thought. If you keep the wiring longer than you don’t necc. Have to rewire when getting to the cab stage - just drop the plywood in back of the cab.

Thanks! My day job is designing digital electronics boards, so the hardware/software is fun to me and not as daunting as it would be for most. My lack of experience with wood working, welding, artwork, etc will be the areas I'll struggle with much more than the software. So many different aspects of a design, I like that everyone can bring their own strengths and learn other areas to get a machine together.
Due to a variety of reasons, my boards are much smaller than the FAST boards - 3x4, so perfect size for fitting on the 4" sides. They were actually designed to potentially allow for them to be placed directly under the playfield if possible so putting them on the rotisserie allows me to lay out my pf without my boards getting in the way, but the issue I'm seeing for the rotisserie is getting power in while allowing for it to spin, but at least that's only a couple of wires to worry about rather than every switch, coil and lamp.
Quoted from dudah:Another one in the wild... I went the store-able option and it was certainly worth the extra effort
Nice Job!
I built one of these over the weekend and I'm using it, but I'm curious how you attach the playfield.
I had to use four clamps but you seem to not need them?

Some add the pivot screws on the side. This locks down the top. You still need some clamps for the bottom.

I originally designed the rotisserie to hold Bally William’s games from the 90s. As you can see we use the bolts that lock into the rail. I’m now working on several Sterns and I have found that a couple pieces of angle iron and clamps do the same thing without me rearranging all my hardware

It should be 1". If you install it 2" down, the screw hole on the other plate won't clear the top of the base to screw in the wing.
I have no idea how you guys did this, or if you found this out the hard way like I did, why nobody ever said anything. Probably afraid of hurting @skypilot's feelings.
Quoted from BorgDog:and the shooter rod holding pin, brilliant! stealing that one for sure.
I just used 1" dowel rod on both sides.
I used a 1" forstner bit to drill through the side, then also the rotisserie.
If I were to do it again, I'd drill a few extra holes so it can stay secured at various angles.
For the folks that have made the version that can be disassembled, did you increase the length of the side pieces to compensate for the fact that the upright pieces would sit closer in"? I ask because I'm considering modifying mine, which has the 56" long sides recommended in the original plans. My gut feeling is that losing 1.5" on the inner length probably doesn't matter much.

It does not matter.
Okay so I'm super dumb but I'm tired of doing hardtops on my dining room table
So I gave my dad the plans from the original post..but it sounds like there are some changes I need to tell him? And why am I so dumb that I'm not able to plainly see how the playfield secures so it can be tilted, flipped, whatever?
20201215_110324 (resized).jpgTook a bit of time for my project to make its way through dad's queue but I can finally properly work on playfields rather than putting them on my dining room table! I'm sure that tweaks will come in time (and I need to install my casters, once I go buy some screws/washers that will work) but for now I'm thrilled with this. Just in time to finish this EBD hardtop project from hell
Thanks Skypilot -- donation to Silverbackks of Topeka incoming!

Quick question: All the lazy susan hardware that I have seen so far says its for mounting horizontally and will not support load mounted vertically. Is that a special one that you all been using?

No, standard last Susan hardware.
They're great plans. I built 2 of them: one for me and one for my friend...and then I promptly stopped doing restorations and playfield swaps. So now I have a brand new, awesome rotisserie.

hehehe, but hey you are ready now!
Quoted from phylaxis:Thanks so much for the plans. Built this for my Flip Flop resto project. Local food bank donation is on its way.
