Some (maybe all?) mechanical Skee Ball games like the one shown above don't need power to keep score. It's done with springs, levers and the weight of the ball falling through the holes. Power is used to illuminate the score, drive the Winner light circuitry and ticket dispenser (if there is one) but none of that is required.

It's a well-known scientific fact that low barometric pressure is conducive to markedly higher scores on amusement devices. Didn't you know that?
