I’ve got a couple controlled lamps to chase but basically done with this resto. Thanks to High_End_Pins and Tsskinne for some inspiration.

Man, I wish that cat was still making rails. Just used up my last set of T rails in a FG. Needed some for an HGT I am working on right now...

I am getting ready to refinish my cabinet. Can someone help me with the paint colors, or paint codes?
Quoted from Vitty:Anyone have a skateball CPR playfield …
I found an NOS playfield and had it touched up / cleared. Will be swapping.
The original I have is in great shape and will be available in a couple months.
Long shot I know.
Anyone know of a similar wire gate for the gate near left flipper?
Part number - ASE 2250-77
https://www.actionpinball.com/parts.php?item=ASE-2250-77
I just need the wire - about 1.5 inches I think.
Can make one but looking for original or close compatible one.
Thanks.
I had the same problem with the gates for my second skateball, was missing the one you're looking for and the one above the spinner, i contacted Steve Young at pinball resource and although he didn't have the exact gates, he gave me two Gottlieb gates, they are about a 1/4 of an inch too short, but you can swing it over to the lower post for the slingshot, i had to fabricate my own gate wire out of a paper clip, it isn't pretty, but it does the job
Use .047 piano wire (music wire) and bend your own. Super easy to do with a pliers and diagonal cutter to trim to size. Takes maybe 10 mins, is really cheap, and you will have plenty leftover to make more gates in the future.
Quoted from Trainmonger:Thanks for the thumbs up, Shapeshifter
And thanks for the advice, as not worked on a Bally classic before.
Purple sounds like an interesting choice, maybe a glow in the dark purple and thank you very much for the compliment

Yeah, I saw a kit on Titan Pinball and thought it looked cool.

Holy crap! That looks so good. I might have to keep my eye out
Quoted from friscopinball:New member! (somewhat - bought the excellent resto job version by Trainmonger).
Going to possibly change rubbers to purple or Glow in the Dark.

I have purple on all but the flippers (yellow), plus a purple 3SMD LED strip in the trough.

Looks clean! Thank you for showing me this picture of it.
Bought new plastics - showed up broken.
Should hopefully be resolved soon.
Also bought plastic protectors, the purple rubbers, and purple post caps.
Meanwhile, increased pitch to 6.5 and whoo boy, it’s a grind now to get a solid score. I’m enjoying it this way though.

You are awesome George! My birthday was last month so I’ll take is a belated gift
Thanks again for selling me this wonderful pin. It plays fantastic and is a testament to your hard work in maintaining it and showing a classic some well deserved TLC.
@shapeshifter, you happen to be correct, there are a couple of post adjustments on Skateball to make game play easier or harder, the ball will bounce differently depending on which hole you use to secure the post
Quoted from John_In_WI:Not an adjustment, that's just a missing post.
Took post out to decide where to put it.
Seems like there are many adjustments to make the game play hard.
I need to read the manual to decide how to set it up.
I guess most have it on 3 balls?

Mine is on 5 balls, but that's how I got it and haven't bothered to change to 3. Don't find it to be particularly easy, but I'm not a very good player either.
I took the gate out from above the left flipper, and it makes the game much more difficult and makes you really think about what you are doing
Quoted from Sarge:I took the gate out from above the left flipper, and it makes the game much more difficult and makes you really think about what you are doing
That must add a huge level of difficulty!
Those gates are impossible to find, and I need to make one, as prefer to have it to start with.
gearing up to do a Skateball build - have Alltek boards, playfield wiring etc but still alot to find and do but was going through the manual as don't have a game to work from and just trying to refresh myself on the dip switches - 32 in total.
I decided to put all the switch options on a spreadsheet to better visualise these.
- The ones in red are double ups with slightly different descriptions I believe
- except the Switch 30 and switch 32 red - I think the Red 32 is a typo in the manual on page 4 at the bottom - is this correct as top of page 6 mentionsballs in play for switch 32
I could not find reference to the following switches
- 6
- 21
- 22
- 29
Can someone explain the on / off results for these 4 switches please as well as correct me on any of the above other switches in the spreadsheet
thanks for your help

Switches 31 and 32 are used for the balls per game. These two switch definitions (and some others) are standard amongst the Bally games that use the version 40 system ROM at U6.
I'm pretty sure the DIP switch 32 on page 4 is a typo and should be listed as DIP switch 30.
Quoted from swinks:I could not find reference to the following switches

They're most likely not used. If you want I can have a look in the code to see whether they're accessed but probably won't have time til next week.

Thanks for clarifying that.
Wow, if you have access to the code that would be amazing and very much appreciated - when time allows. Thanks

I can confirm DIP switches 6, 21, 22 and 29 have no function; they are never referenced.
While I'm here I want to clarify self test positions 16 and 17. The manual lumps them together when setting specials and score level awards like they should be set together. Infact they have nothing to do with each other.
Specials/Extra Ball is controlled by self test position 16 only.
Score level awards are controlled by self test position 17 only.
Note the code treats values 04, 05, 06 and 07 as 00, 01, 02 and 03 respectively.
Replace pages 4A and 6 in your manual with the following:

Just finished a custom Skateball apron card (by request)
All cards are hand drawn by me and free to download (but tips/donations are very welcome)

use piano wire.
I measured up the gate wire for the shooter lane side and modelled it.
If you have an account and log in or create an account you can download the file for free - once logged in a download button appears.
You could download and 3d print to then replicate the gate wire bends in the piano wire.

@ccbiggsoo7, of course i would use piano wire if i had some laying around, but a heavy duty paper clip works fine in a pinch
Got a bonus sound question please.
I was testing the game, knocking down SKATE targets a good few times and collecting bonus.
Does normal bonus sound and then counts slowly in 1000's with a completely different sound?
Is this normal?

Not sure if I’m understanding you correctly, but….. on my game, if collecting a bonus passes one of the scoring thresholds that I’ve set to award a special, a different sound plays while the game counts out those special points.
Hope that helps.

I think that must be it.
It switches to a kind of chime sound.
Haven't had the game long enough to get it to happen in an actual game!
Around 7 years ago, this Skateball machine was purchased for $100 from a closing business in Baltimore. It had sat non-working in the break room for years.
While it wasn't a restoration, I am happy with it and finally calling it complete.
Too many new parts to list, and I don't want to think about the cost.
Just curious if anyone has put setting 7 to on?
The 3 bank drop targets advance bonus it says when 7 is set to on.
Just wondering if this alters strategy in that the more valuable the 3 drop targets are, the more tempting they become?
Can't test my game as it needs a bit of re-pinning of connectors.
Need a little help. Have a project Skateball that I had to replace the head on. I replaced it with a Future Spa head and now I need to make backbox lamp board (the white board behind the backglass). I know the displays are in a standard location. Could some nice person take a few pics and maybe hold up a yard stick (or Meter stick) so I can get light baffle and lamp locations? Any help is appreciated.

I could probably get some pics posted for you after work today.
Hi, unfortunately i sold both my Skateballs over the summer, but there is a seller on Ebay that fabricates those light panels, although, it doesn't look like they make a Skateball light panel, i am sure they could fabricate one and get you pretty close to what you need, the sellers name is Theresastuff, just thought i would pass that info along
