Hello-Newbie here that just got a SMDM machine; replaced boards, fuses/ assorted coils. All up and running, except, only get one ball to play, then done! I've checked and rechecked jumper settings for 3/6, no change. I'm stuck!
Thanks for any help!

Outhole switch clean and properly adjusted?

Get the manual. http://mirror2.ipdb.org/files/2165/Bally_1978_The_Six_Million_Dollar_Man_Manual.pdf

Do diagnostic tests (page 13). See if that shows any problems.

If the outhole switch is clean and properly adjusted but not responding then I would question the connectors at the mpu. If you had reason enough to install a new mpu board then you likely need to replace your female crimp connectors too.

Thank you for the timely responses and manual info. Is the proper gap on switch approximately a business card per my google search?

If the Outhole switch diode is bad, it could trigger multi switch registrations.

Put a crisp $100 bill between the contacts on the outhole switch, gently pinch the contacts together, and draw the bill through until it comes out clean.

1/16" gap is plenty for the switch with no ball in the hole.

Tug on diode, make sure it's not broken.

In switch test mode, test with a ball, NOT YOUR FINGER.

I had this problem on a old Bally Playboy, If I remember correctly the ball will kick out at start up. what is happening is when you end bal 1 its not seeing that has happened so check the Outhole switch but in my case it was the female connector at the MPU. I to had installed a new MPU on those old Bally's you really have to check that the connectors are good. when the ball drains wiggle the wires a little bit on the MPU I think its the [email protected] connector for the outhole check your schmatics to double check.

Was it the connector on the MPU?

#12 6 years ago

It was minor adjustment to the contacts. I bought this pin none working. Replaced all boards and a few coils. All good now! Thanks again for helping a newbie!

Spoke too soon. Everything was working perfectly, then saucer and ball return quit working, now no display lamps. Changed all the fuses out-nada.

there is a small fuse on the power driver board check it for your displays if you changed this board it may be a larger fuse, ether way if its bad no displays. Is the game booting up? Remove the back glass and watch the flashes on the MPU if you are not getting 7 the game is not booting up so no displays no start. If that's the case and the fuses are good check your voltages. Did you rebuild/replace the power supply board?
