Since when and why are pinball Machines called Tables?

I've only heard of this and noticed this after Pinball Arcade became popular.
Primarily people into 2d pinball were ones that I've noticed call a pinball machine a table.

To me pinball is not a "table"...

Since forever, especially by folks of british descent.

A table is a horizontal surface with legs holding it up. That's my guess.

Yeah I have heard them called tables for years.

That is what they are called in some countries.

And study your history. Look up Bally Hoo. Guess what it sat on.

Why don't they call them bearingball ? I've seen lots of pinballs, and they don't have pins sticking out of them ?

Probably why playing pinball beats thinking.

They have been called tables forever, it is more of a European thing than here in the states.

Since like, the beginning of pinball when they were tabletop games.

    Done in one.

You know what really pisses me off? When people call coin op video games 'arcades'. The first arcades I played in as a kid didn't have any video games. Besides rows of pins, they might've had a few skee ball games or one of those stupid nickel shooting games, but no video games at all. And now these punk kids want to call their lame ass video games 'arcades'? Try again junior. That ain't nothing like a real arcade.

...AND STAY OFF MY LAWN DAMMIT!!!
