In purchasing a large collection I have come to realize that I have found a pretty special Pin. I have a Pre-production (proto-type) Data East Simpsons that was produced specifically for Al Ovadia (plaque attached). It still has the original Proto ROM's. In addition, the game is signed by game designer Joe Kaminkow.

The game itself is in original and in pristine condition with clearly no play time on it at all.. Zero wear. The cabinet is near perfect (no real damage just needs a bit of minor cleaning) and the back glass is perfect. I have seen several simpsons in worse condition but still nice sell for 3K or more but I feel this is going to be very special to the Simpsons collector or someone looking for a truly Unique pin. One of the other WP versions sold on Sotheby's for $8,600 two years ago...

What do you think?

Pic's are of the game as it sits, no work performed...

What are the differences between this one and a regular one? Like stuff they took out/added for production

Beautiful game. I compared pictures to my standard production DE Simpsons and the only difference I can find is the handle on the shooter rod. mine is metal/silver color. your appears to be red plastic.

Red plastic was originals I'm pretty sure. Yours has probably been changed.

I dont see how this is a proto type. Everything looks the same as production except a plaque attached to the front.
Probably has the same value as a really nice huo Simpsons.

Looks like the signatures are the only cosmetic differences? Any game play difference?

I have the TMNT one

NO LOWBALLING. I know what I have. One of a kind.

Haha that's exactly what I was going to post

But seriously those DE games with the plaques are production games, not prototypes.

Exactly
They don't sell for much more than the game is worth. I saw the Batman one sell for $3000 on eBay and I bought the Turtles one for same

Terrible game in amazing condition. Looks like serial number 6... Like others suggested, not much more than what a HUO one would get. The plaque may add something. Maybe $500 on top of the base price, if you are lucky.

Good feedback.... my opinion on these is that they are more of a collectable to a Simpsons collector than a generic pin guy.......
