I’m putting out feelers to trade my Simpsons Pinball Party, preferably for a White Water or a Fish Tales, although there are other machines I’d consider. A full list of preferred trades is at the end of the ad.
I bought this TSPP a little over a year ago. It plays great and has a beautiful playfield and a flawless cabinet. I installed a LCD ColorDMD and a tasteful LED kit from Comet Pinball (I didn’t install the trough lights and additional spotlights, but I’ll include those in the trade). I also updated the game ROMs and display ROMs to the most recent revisions. The previous owner added new cabinet decals to replace the terrible factory decals. All in all, this is an absolutely beautiful example of a TSPP.
However, it comes with one con: there’s an audio glitch. Sometimes when you’re playing, the voices in the game will speed up and reverse, sounding like backwards-masked Alvin and the Chipmunks. I’ve sent the Whitestar board out for repair on four different occasions now, including to Stern. Every service bulletin has been addressed, every trick on PinWiki performed. What I've managed to determine is that the issue is on the MPU, it does not involve the sound ROMs, it does not involve the jumpers, and it does not involve the surface-mount Xilinx chip. The most likely culprit, at this point, is one of the other surface-mount audio chips. I would recommend the new owner try sending the board off to Stern to get the remaining surface-mount audio chips replaced, or failing that, just replace the MPU entirely.
Why am I not doing this myself? Frankly, after throwing hundreds of dollars at this board and spending more time looking at the game than actually playing it, I’m tired of working on it and I’d rather just move on to something new. It’s an amazing game and plays great, and I’ll probably regret getting rid of it, but I’m just tired of banging my head against the wall on this one issue.
Again, other than this one audio issue, the game is in amazing condition and plays wonderfully. I’m not sure how to value it, which is why I’m more interested in trades at this time. I’m happy to take cash in the trade depending on the value of the machine in question.
While I’m mainly looking to trade for a White Water in any condition or a Fish Tales, I’ll also consider the following games:
BALLY
Centaur or Centaur II
GOTTLIEB
Spirit
SEGA
Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein
STERN
Black Knight: Sword of Rage (Premium)
Nine Ball
Quicksilver
WILLIAMS
Congo
Cosmic Gunfight
Fish Tales
Pin-Bot
The Shadow
Starlight
Star Trek: The Next Generation
Transporter: The Rescue
Warlok
White Water
Easy load-out, no stairs, and I'm happy to help. I'd prefer not to ship, but I'm willing to travel up to five hours from southwest Virginia.
