Quoted from lowepg:Yes, I'd like to see a "fan cut" that takes this bloatfest and creates ONE awesome movie!
mind boggling how they took a relatively short book, under 100,000 words and turned into three movies, the same length as Lord of the rings trilogy, that was based on 6 volumes in 3 books and almost 500,000 words. Obviously the pursuit of the almighty dollar took priority over being true to the book.
On a positive note, by bloating it as much as they did, it did give JJP more material to work with.

Agreed, 100%. But to be slightly fair they did draw from The Silmarillion and Tolkien's notes for some of it. Was still stupidly bloated and untrue to the character of the book.
Our understanding is that production is about to start. That's why we posted a video on our Facebook.

Let's call Westly. The Star Wars edit he did was fantastic. Makes Eps 1, 2 & 3 watchable.

True, and that would more then double the amount of content, but the same can be said for LOTR, where they pulled stuff from the appendices, notes and also just expanded characters for the sake of moviedom (like the Arwen/Aragorn romance, which is barely mentioned in the books). And yes, you could also argue the opposite about how Tom Bombadil was totally left out, as was all of the songs/poems, which I do agree with, but I know a few LOTR fans that are still upset with that.

Well it better start soon. Jack stated they are contractually obligated to start production in December when the new movie comes out. Oh wait.

Did Jack tell you to post the video stating it was about to start, or were you going off of past talking points?
