Any chance those switches are supposed to have caps on them, but they are now missing? That's what happens on a lot of the older Bally standup targets. The cap basically lengthens the pulse sent to the CPU.
If they work well at low speed, but not when they whip through, this might be helpful.
Is the ball somehow catching air as it whips through? You can set up your phone to record in slow motion and check that out.
