Please excuse my newbness if this question is lame. Is there a way to reduce or at least tone down the ball hop I am getting? Ball keeps bouncing and hitting the glass during even less than spirited play. Forum search was not helpful. Thanks for any advice.

Newb here too. My Eight Ball did the same thing when I first got it home and I found out the problem pretty quickly. The guy I bought it from had put smaller rubbers on the slingshots than the size that’s supposed to be on them. They were tighter than guitar strings and constantly launching the ball upward into the glass.

Now it happens occasionally just because the game plays fast after tuning it up and clearcoating and waxing the playfield but it’s not a problem anymore. Just curious, what game is it?

Sorry, I see in the heading it’s a Silverball Mania.

Where are you getting the ball hop?
Off the flippers? Off the slingshots? Of a specific post or area of the playfield?

I'm not sure about SBM, but I know on many Bally's of that era... if you put round rubbers on mini-posts, instead of "T" rubber, you'll get a lot of hops off those posts.

    WRONG RUBBER:

    CORRECT:

Thanks Sea_Wolf for your reply. The balls seem to go airborne from the flippers and not the slingshots.

Well, according to the link you provided I have the wrong rubbers on the T-posts but regardless the airballs are happening from the flippers.I will be ordering the correct rubbers for the T-posts anyway. Thanks for the help.

Sometimes having the flipper rubbers adjusted where they are closer to the top of the flipper helps too.
