Side trims on Data East?

I have a Back To The Future and just bought a translite. Dont have the old one.

I cant seem to find where to buy the plastic side trims anywhere. I beleive they should be 22-1/2 or 23-1/2 inch.
I only found them in shorter length.

Is it OK to put two pieces next to eachother, to form the desired length? Or will it look broke / not hold?

Or maybe I can use a side trim for Williams or will that not fit?

Also, do I need to have a trim on the top side (of the translite) as well? I saw a clip where a dude only had a bottom lift trim and side trims, that got me confused

I guess the other crisis of the day on the forum keeps people busy.

If you find something that works but they are short pieces i see no reason you can't. As for using a Williams one I now the were different lengths but they could of used different thickness. The lift channel did change over the years be the various companies. Just checked a DE Star Wars glass with translight plastic channel is 4.71 mm gap inside, the channel outside is 5.88 mm. The glass/translight depth of the channel is 9.88 mm
Part# 545-5018-15 Backglass Top Trim For Stern
Part# 545-5018-14 side trim edging- this may be longer but can be trimmed
The shim you are talking of was a friction tape use the thicken the glass with tanslight to stay in the backglass channel.
