Quoted from Madmax541:Have removed side rails, any technique to removing adhesive tape?
Don’t want to damage cabinet decals.
My thought was plastic puddy knife and just rub off any additional adhesive.
I've only done one machine. It was my Indy, that had brand new decals. Some of the armor didn't look great, so I decided powder coat it. I can tell you that the the tape on my machine was extremely durable. It took the decals with it. Yours could be old and crusty.
After protecting adjacent areas with painter's tape, I used a razor knife at an angle to cut through the decals as high as I could under the side rails. This prevented tearing the visible areas of the decals. I then used a sticker peeler, and pulled it though the length of the side rail. It was hard, slow work, but I was able to remove the rails without damaging the cabinet. My side rails had dents, so I was replacing them. Thus, I wasn't worried about bending them. It was money well spent at Pinball Life.
