R & Y Amusements was located on the corner of Broadway and Elwood Ave in Newark NJ. It was across the street from the Elwood movie theater, which I use to go to every Saturday( two movies for 35 cents)and Broadway Jr High School, which I attended in 1967 and 1968.

Back in 1969 at the age of 13 my dad and I bought a Gottlieb Sweet Hearts from R&Y Amusements. Finding this Eldorado over 15 years ago in a town called Essex Fells with R&Y sticker on it is a special connection to my younger days when pinball ruled my world.

So an older man in 80’s calls me about a 1965 Gottlieb Bank a Ball he bought in 1969. He lived about a mile from my home and said he either wanted to sell it or get it repaired and give it to his three grandsons.

I go there and the game needs a total restoration since it’s been sitting for over 40 years.

I plug it in and it started to smoke. The left flipper assembly is apart and laying in the lower cabinet coin box and too many other issues to list.

He asked me what it would cost if I did the restoration....Then I noticed the sticker on the top metal apron and lower card tray. There it was, the sticker I use to put on the games at the store Coin Amusements, where I worked at from age 12 to 17 (1968 to 1973).

I told him I would do it for free, if I could swap my card tray from my Bank a Ball in my collection for the one in his game after telling him a big story about my time spent working there.

I ended up spending 6 weekends there and about an average of 10 to 12 hours per weekend. I got the game looking and playing great again and made a friend after all was said and done.

He was very happy to hand down that game from Coin Amusements that he cherished for many years to his son and grandsons and every time I see the sticker on my Bank a Ball when I play it, brings me back to my old job at Coin Amusements on Mt Prospect Ave in Newark NJ, that I loved so much back then.

This is the only other vendor sticker I have on a game out of all 40+ games in my collection. It’s on a 1961 Bally Lite a Line (6 card) bingo pinball machine.

Good reference for what a Gottlieb two player game sold for new in the box back in 1977. This game found its way to South Orange, New Jersey.

I found this HIGH SCORES sheet of paper taped to on my Top Card back door dated from 1977. It's a little faded and stained, but still exist. Top Card was manufactured in late 1974. The scores are from the home owner I bought the game from. He and his family and friends documented their high scores on this paper starting from the year they purchased the game.

Your Bank a Ball looks to be in excellent condition. Is the cabinet a repaint?

This is not my machine. My neighbor across the street is selling it. I noticed when I took a few pictures of it there was this decal. It is listed for sale on Craigslist under shuffle alley.

Go to post #20 here and read up on where your sticker came from. That game made its way from Newark,New Jersey. What is the name of your game?

    Quoted from hazmat7719:

It is the same vendor, different game. The aprons have

    GTB Buckaroo

It’s possible I played that Buckaroo from Coin Amusements back in the late 1960’s.Can you post more of pictures of the game?
    Thanks
