Not my lawn.

It's grass slaying day in the deep south! Armed with a 2008 5.5 HP Troy Bilt 21" push mower for the majority of the two yards and a 1985 3 HP John Deere 18" mower for the street edging. Both side discharge. The mulching mower had to take a sulky walk back to the garage. This is what happens when your mom needs you to bail her out after the yard mowing guy flakes out following 2 weeks of daily rain and a third week of full sun.

This was at 3:00 in the afternoon. I still had to go quite slow even with full sun today, because the morning dew was still every so slightly present in the deep thick stuff. This was immensely satisfying. I went in the same direction to keep the discharge from piling up.

Results on the main yards after the chlorophyll holocaust...

Oh look, here are the "elephant droppings" from when I mowed this 3 weeks ago...

Can you spot the sidewalk?
_20230819_163757 (resized).JPG
Look at all the crap still left over!

Fixing that...

Now I have these mounds of grass all in the corners and along the edges...

And finally blowing a lot of that mess out to the road:

And I STILL wasn't done even! Then I had to blow all the rest of the stuff off the rock wall edging and out to the road to make it "not my problem" so I could access the rest with the weed trimmer. Just another summer day down south!
Quoted from Pintucky:Wow! What a chore you had! I can't imagine using a push mower again!
At least it's great cardio. I used to mow my dad's lawn years ago when I was a kid using the Craftsman tractor mower. His back yard is about a quarter acre. Now I occasionally cut it for him on the Hustler zero turn.
Quoted from mbwalker:Much better! Going to edge the sidewalk in the first photo?
I don't have an edger but do trim with a weed eater the best I can.
Now this morning it all looks like a hay field!

I actually did try this and it works good if you rotate it 90 degrees.

I can see the rock edging again!

Here's the aftermath after blowing all the rest of the crap through the other side of that brick wall.

Proper hay field today... a week later.

I've had good success with a blower with the dry clippings too.
Quoted from cdnpinbacon:My sump pump outlet drain is leaking , the one I fixed last year. Lame.
Wow...how do we fix this? Goats?
