This is my 1958 William's Deluxe Short Stop. I rescued it from a barn back in 1994. Almost everything is original including the backglass (which has a bit of flaking by the outs). I found a new pitching motor on Ebay a while back and replaced the ailing one it had in it. It also needed a new pitching spring - that is an amazing mechanism. I found out that Pinball Resource had a replacement pitching spring for it so I bought two just in case. The coin door was stripped but I've mostly replaced all brackets and coin mechanisms, but the only parts I am still missing are the coin chutes from the lock-down bar slots to the coin mechanisms.
I have been told that the Short Stop is the only pitch'n'bat with a reverse slope on the playfield, so the ball will always roll down toward the targets. The kids really love playing the old Short Stop - I wouldn't sell it for anything!
