Finally completed stands for each of my trade stimulators/arcade machines.

PA1.jpgPA1.jpg

They are the Gottlieb strength tester; Advance shock tester; Frantz Long Shot basketball kicker/catcher; & Groetchen Pikes Peak mountain climb. These are really fun games. The shock tester, which gives quite a kick, is a real favourite with visitors.

The first & fourth stands are reformed & heightened former bar chairs from a local club; the mock power transmission tower I fabricated last weekend & the cabinet & castors, which holds all my pinball manuals/docs in the back, is fabricated from medium density fibre board.

Would like to see close ups of them.

Each of the machines are completely original & fully operational although Long Shot is a new with old parts machine. I propose to refinish the GTB deluxe grip tester as the original wrinkle finish (which included silk screened emblems) does not allow decals to be successfully applied which I think is very important for the patina. I continue to be enthralled by the mechanisms of these machines. All of these are 1940s vintage.

A video of you operating each one of those would be cool too.

There are videos on youtube. Those by John Zuk are most professional.

I was just trying to see if you'd 'fall for it'. Wanted to see feats of strength...and the shocker.

[attachment=2577894,undefined caption="bowler 002.JPG"]I just bought this 1963 Chicago Coin GRAND SPARE LITE BOWLER. A friend bought it first but could not get it into his basement. So he delivered it. It does work and needs a coil on the player stepper. Yep, the front half of the lane is from a different bowler. Not sure what year/model the front lane is. It even has the guards, not pictured, to protect the pin deck and backglass from those who like to bowl overhand. I have a lot of cleaning to do BEFORE final reassembly.// Error: Image 432324 not found //// Error: Image 432324 not found //

16'+ big ball bowlers rock!

I am in the midst of seeking out a ball bowler (not easy to come by in Australia) preferably a 1960s United. I am conscious that schematics are available but would someone be able to clarify pls whether an operating manual was also published. Thks.

This week, I acquired a 1963 Southland Speedway arcade game in which a 1/32 scale 1957 Jaguar slot car competes against a Ferrari. The player is able to race against a car in single-player mode. Alternatively, two players can race head-to-head. Steering accuracy translates into the fastest lap times. As a teenager in the '70s, I was a slot car enthusiast. Consequently, this arcade game has long been on my wish list. My 10 year-old son's interest in my vintage arcade and pinball games has been renewed by this unique game. On Youtube, a fellow collector has a video clip of his Southland Speedway in action. Below are some photos I snapped last evening, after my son left me in the Southland dust:

A Southland Speedway machine brought an incredible $US10000 at Auction!!

#427 8 years ago

That's a pretty hefty number but I could see that happening. It's not a game that turns up very often. All it takes is two guys with deep pockets that both want it bad enough.

#428 8 years ago
Quoted from ZNET:

I'd love to see how that works.

#429 8 years ago
Quoted from browne92:

Note pointer on steering wheel hub. Maximum speed occurs at when pointer is to the right when car needs to go into a right curve, pointed straight on the straightaways etc. If pointer is in the incorrect position, the car moves much slower and the competitor, if the pace car or opponent who is steering correctly, overtakes you.

#430 8 years ago

Here's three Youtube links regarding Southland Speedway, two of which demonstrate the gameplay.

1955 Williams Sidewalk Engineer:

This is a pretty cool looking item IMO. I don't think I played this one back in the day. It looks interesting to play but not sure how much fun it would be or what the real goal is. Would love to hear more about how this game works if someone here has one.

If you want one there is one for sale on eBay with no reserve (not mine).

Those are cool. I'm not sure there is really a goal in mind while playing. Mainly just the novelty of driving the bulldozer around. I know my grandson would get a kick out of it.

#434 8 years ago

Yah those specifically are just that. The americoin Dozer IMO is a better game since you have to push the "sand" into the lit up hoppers for it to essentially add all the sand together for different weight goals.

Does anyone have any cabinet &/or pin head pics of a United Tropics 1962 big ball bowler pls? I need to do some repaint & want to be sure that I replicate original graphics (the game flyer does not really help). Thanks.

Pinball Resource sells bowling pins. I'm not sure if he has them for your model but check out his site.
