For whomever was looking for those life-sized statues with slot machines in their chests, the new Potter & Potter auction has 2, with estimates of 3k-4500 on each. PDF to catalogue, check page 5: https://www.potterauctions.com/pdf/catalog_76_web.pdf

I thought the same thing. Alot of it less than 100 years old as well.

I think the market on collecting that kind of stuff is really receding, but it's still there.

Does anyone have any experience or commentary regarding uniqueness of the Bally 1938 Lite-A-Pax?

The Mercury counter tops go for a pretty good coin. The floor models come up less often..

Any idea on value? Unrestored and restored. Im probably going to start the restoration next month, but dont want to sink a ton into it if its not worth it. Although itll be a pretty cool piece when im done i hope

You might want to check ebay. A few years back, I seen counter top Mercurys bids exceed $1,000.00
(working), which is why I picked a floor model when the opportunity came around..
I never had seen a floor model example listed, but I rarely check out ebay..

Best to check eBay or Craigslist to get a good idea of the average market value. You can base your price from this. The comparison will also give you a pretty good idea on how much you should spend on restoration, and at what point restoration is worth it.

One of the floor models sold on e-bay last week for $350.
ebay.com link » 1940s Mercury Athletic Scale Deluxe Model Strength Tester Penny Arcade Coin Op
It was a really good deal, so much so that I was thinking about it; however, I have a countertop model.

There was another one, that was restored for $850? Don't know if that one ever sold. There are lots of countertop models from several manufacturers and from early 1900's to 1960's. Pricing varies a ton, from $300 or so for complete unrestored, common models to over a grand for the rare and/or restored models. Of course, that doesn't stop people from thinking that their 1950's rusted-out countertop model is worth $1200

I'm no expert, but I think if it were reasonably restored...I don't mean pristine, better than new...but painted with a good automotive paint, all parts there, working as it should and a nice dial, you should be able to get at least $600. Part of the problem with these floor models is that they weigh a ton, so your market starts to narrow down to people that will drive to pick it up.

Personally, I would say $375 was a great deal, assuming all the innards are there and it works. If the one I linked had been local to me, I would have put in a bid for it. If you decide you don't want to restore it AND happen to be driving down this way, maybe to the beach or mountains, let me know. I may be interested.

Ill let you know, i was just in virginia last month, so who knows. And it is suprisingly light for being all metal.

I am not sure if this belongs on yours (are the table-top and stand-up decals interchangeable?). And I am not sure if yours was originally yellow, but here is a potential replacement decal for the dial.

I lose money on everything I restore.
I restore machines now that I want to have for a while.
Then I sell it for a loss and move on.

I wish I could purchase machines for what I end up selling them for but already restored.

Ya, i know the feeling. I really just enjoy the process of the restore. Loss or gain, its fun to see the before and after

I'm jealous...I've been on the hunt for a mini golf for awhile. Have a Williams Pinchitter, Williams Ten Pins and Genco 2-player bball, so I have a hole that needs to be filled.

My Evans' Ten Strike came with a manual, that I could not find anywhere on the internet. I've scanned it. If you have a Ten Strike without a manual, would like to own the game someday, or are just interested in what a manual from 1939 looks like: feel free to download it!

You should upload that to KLOV. It is a great resource for stuff like that. If your not a KLOV member I can do it if you don't mind me doing it. Or I can approve your membership if you want to request one.
