I thought about posting this thread SUB-FORUM under Solid State but changed my mind the last minute and posted it here under the EM bingo group....where I think it will fit right in.

Here is my general video of the 1988 "New Continental Golden" six card bingo or it could very well be a "Continental Magic Game". It might be that both games are really the same game, but not sure and hope we can gain more information about this. The reason for this posting is to gain some knowledge about these great machines and hopefully more people who own them come forth.

Let me start off by saying that Bally manufactured the first and last electronic bingo called "Continental" in 1980 when they decided to end their run of making bingo since 1951 with the first game called Bright lights, which was a six card game also. They made 1000 or was it 10,000 Continental's but sold them off to a company in Belgium called G.A.A. and the USA might have not seen many of them at all for sale.

I bought this NCG along with a spare NCG parts game that was missing the lower cabinet and nine Miss Bowling Turbo's (two card) electronic bingos from an operator in New Jersey around 20 years ago. This operator bought the electronic bingos overseas and had them customized and programmed for his route here in NJ. The NCG comes with a key pad for programming the microprocessor CPU board.

I know his tech was sent overseas to train and learn about these bingo machines too. I have customized manual for both games that I got when I purchased the games and the vendor's tech taught me what knowledge he had learn through the years about these games. It was really was general operation information and a few other tricks about what to expect when trouble-shooting etc.

This NCG is an outstanding bingo pinball machine and it has many more features than any EM bingo could ever imagine. I love the fact that it is very quite compared to the EM bingos and can be played at late hours in the night when the kids/wife are a sleep. The game has large payouts and some of the newer bingos made in the 1990's take Susan B Anthony dollar coins and of course might have be equipped with a bill acceptor too. A player can loose a tremendous amount money in a few hours depending on how much he is willing to gamble. Payouts range from one dollar to hundreds or thousand dollar wins or lost, especially with a player be able to gamble with the 15 times multiplier feature that the player can buy into at every start of any game. I am sure it one of the biggest money maker in the coin op industry if your operating them on route. They are still be manufactured today overseas by many company's and are on route too.

If you want more information about electronic go to Danny Leach website at
    bingo.cdyn.com.

Be on the lookout for more detailed videos about my New Continental Golden (NCG) six card game.

Very happy to see you posting new videos again Vic. I am slowly getting my own bingo working with the help of Nick Baldridge online.

Using the old camera again, or is YouTube having issues? I am getting very low quality on my end. Nonetheless what matters is the content and that is great as always.

how much do these electronic machines weigh vs EM bingo?

    #6 5 years ago

The weight of the electronic bingos vs an EM bingo is a lot less. The head and lower cabinet weigh about the same as my Gottlieb solid state 4 player Countdown or my 1978 Bally Playboy.

I will be posting some pictures of the inside of the head. Check the pictures of the lower cabinet.

    Hi Steven

Here is my Silver Sails.... almost finished with the refurbishment. Notice that the controller out of Reno Nevada rewired the blue super section to pay out like the earlier magic screen games.(2 in blue scores as 5 in green and 3 in blue scores as 5 in green). It looks like all of the parts are there to fix it except the blue super section coil and a few cut wires. I will probably leave it that way for now....I don’t want to have to replace the back glass. I made the new side rails from mirror finish stainless steel and replaced all of the inner metal pieces with mirror finish also. If it looks funky when I pull the protective film off I can always reuse the original paint lock pieces on the interior. I’m a Sheetmetal Worker by trade. I’m not a painter or a cabinet maker / wood worker so be kind on the critical comments. I didn’t use Zolatone on the base coat because they couldn’t tell me the color and wanted $250 to match it. They also had a minimum order of a gallon. The front of the cabinet had to be recreated from the great pictures posted of the NIB Silver Sails from the York show. Let me know what you think. I have also included a few pics of my new Sea Island that was on EBay from Glendale. The cabinet looks pretty good but the door needed repaired and...magic screen motor was jammed up and the screen shaft was half a turnout of sequence. Ball lifter not working, scoring not working, steppers all gummed up, you know all of the regular stuff. I’ve had it a couple of days and most of the stuff is fixed. Search disk clutch slips pretty bad and the right screen button is not working... coil is good but won’t pull in unless jumped and when it does it doesn’t pulse the magic screen index coil??? Oh, I’m not an electrical wiz either. I’m sure with a little time, patience, love, and understanding, and a lot of beer I will eventually figure it out.

Nice job on the SS. Does the coin payout work? One of my Bountys has the same alteration to the Blue section.

I restored a Sirmo Belgium "New Orleans" All Electronic" Bingo Pinball a couple months ago. I don't have a ton of photos to send just a couple to give you an idea of the condition of this machine. I don't know how many of these are out there. I'm sure there are a lot of them in Belgium since they were manufactured there. Thanks for looking. Machine is almost 100%!

Nice looking machine. Are the electronic parts hard to find and or replace? Looks a bit lighter than my EM’s

so the rewards are always directly related to the coin drop? No "chances" and "tightening" like in EM bingos?
Was there specific legislation that got rid of that aspect? (seems likely)

    #21 4 years ago
    Quoted from cait001:

The portioning affects a few aspects of Dixieland, and I suspect the same is to be said of New Orleans: the number of magic numbers selected in certain positions, the double or nothing award, and (perhaps) the lighting of the rollovers. I can't recall offhand if those light based on the portioning.

Five ball games have much less to portion as the player has many fewer chances to win.

In the 1970s, Bally moved to guaranteed awards of the cards themselves. This is carrying forth Dixieland and Continental's tradition, and not due to a Belgian law.
