Very new at this - doing my first restoration now (1978 Bally Black Jack) and it's about 80% done. For the coin door, I totally disassembled it, used Evapo-Rust on most parts, and tumbled the smaller bits in batches.

A previous owner hacked up an Atari button to add credits - drilled a hole right thru the skin and backing plate! I'm doing this on the cheap so I opted to keep the button and make it functional instead of spending $80 for a new replacement door skin.

It may not look like-new and it doesn't come close to some of the fantastic jobs I've seen on this thread, but it's now clean and functional!

Finished my Black Knight coin door this weekend and this pretty much completes the restoration. Time to play!

1976 Night Rider EM - some Before and After shots. I keep forgetting to order a replacement flap for the coin door. Almost done with this restoration project!

I'm on the tail end of a Williams Flash restoration. Pretty pleased with how the coin door came out....I would like to have sent out all the parts to get re-plated but I'm already way, way over budget on this thing. It cleaned up great and I was able to get all the rust, gunk, and most of the oxidation off. Some stains and marks remain here and there that I just couldn't get out with the bench buffer, but overall I'm pleased.

Here are a few Before and Afters:

    And installed in the machine....

    Quoted from BJM-Maxx:

Looks excellent, wondering how you spruced up the actual door skin?

I cheated, lol. I picked up a new repo Williams SS door skin from Bob's Pinball Stuff. Only part of the coin door refurb that isn't original.

    Quoted from pfinny:

Looks really nice, what paint did you end up using ?

Thanks! No paint. I used a few different grade wheels on a bench buffer to polish after the parts soaked in Evaporust for a couple of days. Did ultrasonic cleaning on most parts (that would fit in my cleaner) before and after the bench buffer treatment.
