Playing bingo last night on Bikini. Before a break, I had the meter at 330 having put in around 200. So I was up around 130.

After the break, I went cold. The meter had dwindled to around 120 by the time that I managed to build up the coveted 7 futurity game: all odds at 120/240/450, yellow super section, before 5th lit.

Ball 1: 1. Great number! In the yellow super section with all kinds of possibilities to hit.

Ball 2: 24. A hit in the yellow super section for 120.

Ball 3: 15. Terrible.

Ball 4: 19. 19!!!! This hit the yellow super section for 120 more, AND since I had the before 5th lit, it hit both red and green for 120 each. Already a monster game for 480.

But there's more.

Ball 5: 11. Sweet, sweet 11 hit the yellow super for an additional 210.

Total: 690 credits

A couple of games later, I pegged the meter at its maximum 899 for my first time ever in 18 years of playing.

....ohhhh, hits....

#3 2 years ago

That's the payout games we play for. I have a Can Can red letter game, no futurity feature and have never got my odds that high...yet.

I want a Bikini game.

Vid, you are such a cruel bastard.

I'll have to see if I can actually make some hits so I have something to show... I guess a full cashbox is a hit to the op?

This is a cool thread, Robert. Looking forward to seeing the scores that get posted here!

Considering how this is my best score in at least a month, I'll post it, though it pales in comparison. It will also give you a sense of how my playing, bingo and pinball both, has been going

Here's the decision point. Take the 32 and run, or try for the EB and a possible 4 in line?

IMG_0780_(resized).JPG

OK, easy decision. Gotta try at least once, right? Good decision too, as it only costs me 1 replay.

IMG_0781_(resized).JPG

Sadly, I shoot badly and nail the 21. No help at all. Hmmm. One more? Sure, why not. Another good choice, as this one only costs a quarter. Could have been much worse!

IMG_0782_(resized).JPG

Crap! Miss again, hitting the 12. I didn't take that picture - no point. Go for the third EB? I think not. The odds are against me, I suspect

#10 2 years ago

before 5th lit made a two color hit possable
red 3 in-line & 4 in the yellow section

#11 2 years ago

Check again, Muggle - before 5th (but yellow section woulda paid more).

How do credits work one these? Never actually figured out how to play one (played one only once), hopefully bingopodcast's head doesn't explode. :O

#14 2 years ago

Otaku, one credit = one button press. Similar to any other pinball with replays, but a typical game may have multiple credits used instead of just one. Come see me at York this year and I'll give you a tutorial. Also: *boom*

#15 2 years ago

One of my favorite Bingos.......NightClub.
You can get very high scores on HER if the 'double', triple' or 'quad' features are lit.
* this was a 'Triple 4 in a Line' in Yellow....... 3x72= 216

I know. I'm bringing a Bally Dixieland to Allentown and have know idea how these work. I picked up the machine from my friends house, owner, and he kind of explained it to me, but I have no idea what he was talking about.

Is there a way to put these things in freeplay? Hoping someone at the show can help me keep it running.

All I know is that thing was heavy as hell.

I was there when Vic pulled this off. He did a 5 in a line at the Wayne, NJ show years ago too which I witnessed. He's incredibly passionate about bingos, and is probably one of the best players anywhere.
I liked that York show recap, but the photo allegedly showing a Williams "Casino" was not correct. The game shown is a Williams "Sweetheart". My brother bought that "Casino" on the spot. He just had to borrow the cash from me first! We're still enjoying it.

You'll find 85% of what you need to know about Bally bingos at Phil Hooper's site.

Free play on Dixieland involves jumpering the second switch blade behind the red button to one of the coin switch lugs, and using an alligator clip or ziptie to force the zero limit switch shut on the replay register.

To play any bingo, you really have to read the backglass and instruction cards - your basic goal is to get three, four or five in a row. The number of times you press the button or insert a coin on Dixieland enables the features of the machine. A game like Night Club, above, will allow an unlimited number of coins/credits per game, but Dixieland has an 11 coin/credit max. On Dixieland, the replays earned per card scale. There are also special features that enable high scoring, but know that getting 5 in a row on card #6 is (typically) the best.

I'll plug my show a bit - Dixieland in particular I talk about here: http://foramusementonly.libsyn.com/episode-191-1978-bally-dixieland
And I speak with Vic Camp about the evolution of all Bally six cards here: http://foramusementonly.libsyn.com/episode-177-strictly-six-cards-with-vic-camp

Give 'em a listen and you should have a good idea of what to do.

A nice win last night. I was in for 24. Hit 296. 5-in-line yellow + 4-in-line red.

Those of you that know me, know that I have sometimes limited time to play my games, so I try to sneak in a couple of quick games during my lunch break at work.

Yesterday, I chose Caravan to play, and Caravan has a couple of carry-over features. If you land in hole 24 with the feature lit over several games, it will automatically award all three extra balls on the next game. Well, my first game I pumped in six nickels and won 36. I also landed in the last special pocket to get my three extra balls!

Next game, I went in deep - I pumped in thirty-two credits. At $1.60, I was betting big, but it was worth it!

My odds racked all the way up to the top thanks to a couple of multiple jumps, and, most importantly, I got the wonderful red diagonals and red diagonal 3 as 4 and 4 as 5! My odds were 300/200/64. I did not have the select-a-spot lit, nor corners, but I did have my roto at before 5th and the UMC feature, which will allow two spotted numbers for left or right side rollovers.

Well... I finally have an ok hit. Two three in a rows, but since red diagonals scored separate and as 4, I won 264, plus my existing 4 on the meter left me at 268. I managed to hit the right-side rollover which spotted two numbers, and positioned my roto so that it matched up in the lower-right corner. I have one ball that is magnetized, and haven't yet replaced the balls with non-magnetic balls, so this pic is with only seven balls in pockets. I tilted trying to free the last one.

Nice nudging there Nick! Caravan is such a great game! I love the Lite-A-Name feature, but hate the look of the lights out behind the letters. I wish they would have put lit arrows under the letters instead.

I have trouble getting the "9". Maybe its the way the playfield is leveled.
Is there any special 'move' to get the "9".

#24 2 years ago

Nick....... too many options on that Bingo..... LoL.
I don't like to think too much when I'm playing.....
Nice score........

#25 2 years ago

100% agree, Dennis. At the moment, it is my only United, so the only one with the lights out in the name. I remember the first time I got the name lit and got a 5 in a line - I thought it was malfunctioning! Ha-ha!

I do too, unless I need 8 or 10.

When you play as badly as I do, the machine takes pity on you eventually.

Late Thursday afternoon I fired up Bikini ... on the 2nd game with 20 cents worth of build up hit 4 in the green section (D) for 240 ... 5th ball didn't cooperate ... smiled, gave her a a love pat, called it a winner and shut 'er down.

#27 2 years ago

Well..... I finally got the '9' on the last ball for '5 in a line'.
If you bring the ball down to the post above the 10 softly, then nudge the ball
gently to the left; the ball will drop in the '9' hole.
* I only got 96, but it was great knowing the '9' hole was a real hassle for me!

Dang, you got me wanting to get going on my ShowTime project....

#29 2 years ago

I had to do a lot of work on my 'showTime' when I got it from a guy in north Chicago.
It was his father's and was in the garage for about 20yrs.
I had to get another motor for the magic squares; plus a few other parts.
I re-painted the cabinet; that was a mess too. I would like to get another backglass; if I can find
another one.
* Be careful with the power to the 'magic squares' motor and the contacts for ABCDE...... 115VAC.
I believed they changed that setup on the Bingos after that.....

Got my first 5 in a row racking up 150 credits on my Palm Springs .....

First I scored 3 in a row on the main card lighting 8,16 and 6. Used the select a number for 16 after getting 6 and 8 on my first two or three balls shot.... After shooting my fourth and fifth ball I dumped my odd balls using the odds/even feature.

Reshot new balls and got the 18 to score the left supercard. Then bought a couple extra balls without much scoring luck.

The number 4 was all that was left to get 5 across on the main card. Bought my 3rd extra ball and finally hit the number 4 on my last shot to light up Five in a row on the top of the main card !

First 5 in a row I have scored !

Congratulations NoQuarters on your 5-in-line on Palm Springs

I've owned this game for many years; in my experience, this seems to be the most common manner in which to hit a 5-in-line.

Cheers!

#34 1 year ago

Thanks guys. Up to last night 32 credits was my biggest win.... having hit that many times on Super Cards. I am thinking 150 credits will be hard to top. 5 in a row is tough. I don't know exactly how many credits I spent getting the win but probably about 20+ or so. Reflex was in giving mode. Getting features lit came easy. Most credits were spent buying extra balls.

Earlier in the night I had 4 corners feature lit and got 3 of them - couldn't hit the 4th and extra balls were stingy that game. So I started a new game. 4 corners is tough. Feature doesn't light much and then hitting them is tough. Usually play for a lesser pay out, usually settling for a 3 in line in those instances.

Robert - I see on your collection page you have a bunch of Bingo's - WOW - what a group !!

Making a 5 in a line on any bingo is not that easy to do and Palm Springs is one of the harder bingos to make a 5 five in a line on for sure. Learning to make 3, 4 and 5 in line wins take focus, determination, coordination, many hours of playing time and much more. Congratulations!

Jeff Lawton was shut out for several games on Roller Derby before building up a nice game after putting ~$2 into it. He then hammered it for 634 on his OK game. One of the biggest hits I have ever seen on a single game! 5 red for 480 + 3 green for 120 + 3 yellow for 64.

I really lit up my Lido last week -- in for $2, out for $44.05. One of those sessions where I was able to make many small/intermediate wins to keep credits on the meter as I built up my futurity games, and then crushed the futurity games. On my 9 futurity I hit for 450 (4 in yellow super); then on my 12 futurity I hit for 600 (4 in green + 2 in red super using the after 5th feature).

Damn Vic, you got that combination during gameplay? Had you landed the 22 instead of the 9 you would have landed a 3 in-a-row on all six cards!

I didn't realize that if I got the 22 instead of the 9.....but better yet the 4 or 11 instead of the 9 would have been a hit for 128 replays (4 in a line on the six card).....see score card payout in picture.

I was playing my Silver Sails last night and this isn't my biggest hit.....but for the serious bingo player there is always a great thrill making three numbers in the colored purple section which awards the player a chance at playing the ultimate "GOLDEN GAME". Then being able to get a hit/win in the gold stripe section of the GOLDEN GAME for 96 replays, in my book is a pretty dam nice win and feels so good!
