I haven't noticed any since '83 but I scanned the photo for clues, which was obviously taken since TSPP was released in '03. Can't read the cig price on the machine, but it does have a bill changer.
Then I noticed the bar name on the vending machine is July Alley, and found that is a closed Dallas dive bar 
. Found a photo from 2013.

It is similar but not identical and 150 conversion kits made in Germany were probably never noticed in '83.
