Would love to see a game play video of some of these rare pins.

#402 5 years ago
Quoted from pinballslave:

I THINK you can only do this if the images are hyperlinked to your own site, I'm sure it's not possible through the pinside attachments... but I'm a moron when it comes to this sort of thing!

It looks to have been uploaded under the user's account on CL, as the source for the image file being used is here:

Cool little reversible screwdriver from the Pinball 2000 days.

Your enthusiasm for this game seems to even exceed mine... just... I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to fiddling with this one and eventually (hopefully) getting it all going and playing it!! Yes, those flipper gaps are B I G !! The seller said it was a worker, but sadly I haven't even had time to plug it in since I got it!!
Here's a pic of the cab side art closer up (and in better focus than above!):

Cab side art.jpg 97 KB

theres a few older EM's I have a similar feeling about, looking like great games while not being really complicated or populated, but Siremar just moreso. between the rareness, visual appeal, and potential frustrating fun tough gameplay for the pf layout it kinda screams DO ME, even 3/4 (zizzle) size with 2 player (separate) score displays, modes music and sounds, not like a verbatim copy but really a new machine thats maintaining the appearance and tough gameplay appeal (but maybe a little less flipper gap, it does look a bit too SDTM MEAN lol).

I do think Jpop had a great idea, when it got to the manufacturing, zizzle shot themselves in the foot with going too flimsy-cheap on hardware (switches etc) and it bit em awful quickly. I dont think the initial concept-idea was bad at all, but execution got em executed. one popcap and a couple simplified (long!) drop target mechs (one center standup target 3 rollovers), and one kickout hole.. maybe pop a spinner in the left uplane just cuz.. theres really not a bunch of stuff to suffer reliability problems if its done right. a minimalist parts count and maybe 7 solenoids total? I like it!
after that its just -what- for a controller and new rule set for modes sounds music etc.

not something I could do personally (skills funds etc) but you never know.. someone out there who's into it and capable might read a post like this and "oh hey now, good eye!" for the beginnings of a new company doing some quality 3/4 scale classic, electronically upgraded repro's for home use?
crazier yet.. pinsiders helping elect candidates for production based on gameplay, mechanical simplicity, lack of proprietary or licensing issues (even though what'd be produced would be functionally different and improved to an extent). many cant do 7k or dont want to go 4-700 for a neat old machine thats going to take a lot of work beyond their abilities, but they might spend that for a well built NIB retro-toy, is part of my thoughts anyhow.

1973 Playmatic MAGIC, not sure just how rare this is but I've only known 2 to exist.

Proof that rare doesn't necessarily mean it's worth anything. How many of these bad boys do you think are out there??

It's for a DMD game, so no score windows.

#410 5 years ago
Quoted from CaptainNeo:

where are the score windows?

DMD below the translite area. IPB Breakshot remake.

LTG : )

#411 5 years ago

Lloyd's got it right!

#412 5 years ago

It's actually screened onto a polycarbonate sheet. So it's not a translite and it's not a backglass. I don't know what to call it.

#413 5 years ago

I have an Illinois Pin Ball Flyer with 3 of these machines [Pool Player] and 2 live girls posing.
Cool flyer. Not sure where I picked it up.

Here's our Electric Road, came from Europe, there are pictures of another one on IPDB that has slightly different playfield art and ours is the one with no name on the photos http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=5364&picno=61548
Unfortunately the playfield was no good structurally and the insides had been all hacked up, so it is getting a playfield transplant from a Playmatic Last Lap and converted to solid state by Kressy, the maker of Hitch Hikers Guide To The Galaxy, Tumbleweed and Colour Demon.

#417 5 years ago

So Breakshot ws a name change?

#418 5 years ago

Breakshot was the Capcom version of the machine made in 1996. When IPB got the Capcom assets, they remade them as Pool Player in 2000. At least that is my understanding.

I don't believe they ever made more than the 3 prototypes. The game never came to be (for obvious reasons).

Or worked. They showed three dead ones.

Picked up yet another Felix machine if anyone wants to trade a Tron LE for it.

One of my rare things is sorta lame compared to some of the cool stuff that's coming up, but I haven't seen anyone show these yet.

In the 90's I went to some of the Williams/Bally Pinball Tech Seminars they put on at the local Distributors. I wound up on the mailing list and got these Junk Yard postcards. I got them all within a month, and just needed to collect all 8 of them to win a $1000 voucher towards a new WMS/Bally Pinball! I don't know why I didn't turn them in or if I needed to, but didn't get a voucher and I've still got 'em!

In the "going to fix it eventually" pile i also have 3 of the NSM games. Cosmic flash, hot firebirds, and their knock off of gottlieb tag team. I had planned to just steal the boards out of tag team to resurrect cosmic flash, but since it works and has a somewhat different backglass i don't think i can bring myself to kill a working game.

YOu buy that from Mike? He told me there was only 1 in existence and he had it. I almost bought it from him, but it was in too shitty of condition and was unsure if I could get the parts to make it play worth a shit.

#429 5 years ago

This did come from mike, but it's not the one you're talking about.

He still has the Mr Game Fast track. That was the prototype of motor show. It has the same playfield, but a different cpu, video board, b&w monitor. It doesn't have the video game challenges... just text and scores. I guess it died at some point during expo... but i haven't got anywhere close to catching up on all the other rare and unusual pain in the butt projects yet to even think about looking at it.

It's a real shame you can't keep the original playfield in there... Good luck with the project!

It took a shit huh? Glad I didn't buy it. I would of, but his price on it changed from hour to hour. One min I talked to him it was reasonable. Talked again. outlandish price. Again, medium, Later he bumps into me and wants to talk about it again. Next time, price is through the roof again. I think he thought I wanted it worse than I actually did.

1951 Genco Hits & Runs. Production run of 490. Two listed on the internet pinball serial number database and two listed on pinside, including this one. I'd guess it's fairly rare.

I'd bet i could have it up and playing in a day or two. It's the shop job/resto stuff i can't do. My OCD takes over and i have to just walk away for a month or 6.

Thank god it doesn't play or sound like no fear or i'd probably push it over the hillside and set fire to it, lol.

The cab is ugly awesome. When you open the coin door there are a couple of pieces of pipe in a slot next to the cash box. I thought someone just stuck them in there, but after looking a bit there's a couple holes on the bottom of the front. They figured out the beast was too friggin awkward and heavy to move.... so you're supposed to slide those bars into a couple holes in the front and carry it like a gurny.

Sold this rare New Wave populated playfield to a fellow pinhead here in Florida last year. It's a Bell Games drop in for the '84 Bally Black Pyramid pin.DSCN8842 - Copy.JPGDSCN8848 - Copy.JPG

#448 5 years ago
Quoted from CaptainNeo:

Many operators did the same thing here. I've seen piles of 80's pin, piled up and set on fire or crushed. They did it so the competition didn't buy them for cheap and put them on route.

I've talked about this before, but I did it for a location I worked for as recently as 2000.
