Just the thread i was looking for ....i will be doing a few of my machines as well and am torn on what colours to do especially on Alien Poker and RollerGames. For me its always a question to go with a colour there is lots of on a machine or something there is very little of.
As far as DH i wonder if something to match that light purple might look good?

#12 8 years ago

These are looking great guys .... Keep em coming

#38 8 years ago

Wow some beautiful looking machines ...after seeing the pink on D/H i dont think the light purple would go.
Liking the 2 tone stuff alot....was going to do my Family guy all orange this week but might have to change that up now.
For my rollergames and alien poker it will be a 2 tone for sure.

#45 8 years ago

Yes the yellow does look good on family guy ....maybe ill try a 2 tone with yellow on mine

Quoted from SuperPinball:

Just curious if it is possible to spray paint the armor instead of powder coating. Has anyone tried?

I have heard of people painting and clear coating it....not sure how well this holds up but would like to hear if anyone has done it.

#124 8 years ago

What is your method of removal of existing coatings for the ones that have been factory coated like newer sterns?

#137 8 years ago

anyone care to share their process of powder coating machines that have existing coating on like sterns?

Hey zitt thank you for info

Quoted from Butterflygirl24:

I don't have any of my games powder coated. I have done all mine with automotive paint and clear. I have had them all to several shows and they hold up just fine.
Phoebe

That looks great ....i kinda like the paint idea better cause it gives you some more options and more pieces you can color.

I left it black because all the others are black in that line up and figured it might look funny.

Here is a friends EightBall we did in the same colour ...coin door is done as well just not on yet

Next on the chopping block in LAH in yellow and Pink Panther in pink of course

Quoted from Zitt:

I spy... with my little eye... my clear Early Solid State button housings. Are you planning on backlighting them with an LED?

Yes that is the plan and guess what colour....PINK!! I also have them on my Flash Gordon, Haunted house and have the decals for it as well.
Great idea to give backlighting to these older bally Gotleib flipper buttons.

As mentioned above by bcrage i did have to change out 3 of the backings on a eight ball we had in our tournament so i think what i will do on my mine is if i can is double them up or if you can make them with a stronger plastic might be the key....never had any issues with them so far in home use though.
Quick question ...do you think you can or will be making a 1 piece backing for the double buttons like in haunted house?

I would stay away from doing 2 coat colours on the hinges as it is a bit too thick. One colour usually works ok but also ask the person doing your powder coating if he can open and close hinge a few times after he takes it out of oven to free it up.

Quoted from Jarbyjibbo:

I think there is an art to it.

Yes if you do it yourself or bring it in to someone that does pinball parts. But I'm sure a lot of people are just bring these in to get done at local shop.
