These all look geeat. Is removing/replacing the the side rails difficult or risky? I have never tried, but would like to. Is there a vids guide ?

#466 3 years ago
Quoted from MustangPaul:

Piece of cake, remove the screws, use a heat gun on low setting, heat the rail a bit and gently pry up one end a little bit at a time heating and working your way down taking care not to bend the rail. Just take your time.

Thanks Paul,
I can do that. Then there must be an adhesive strip to reapply ?

Thanks guys.

Quoted from markmon:

I've been leaving the tape off and drilling two holes into the rail like stern side rails and using little black screws. Way easier to deal with and attaches very securely.

Wait , So Stern machines don't use adhesive tape but instead use screws ?
My plan is to remove the rails from a new GB and install new lollipop style rails .

Good to know , sounds easier .

Anybody know the color description or color code for the GB green powder coat ?

#738 2 years ago
Quoted from MustangPaul:

That green is to bland, try Granny Smith Apple green.

Paul you always have liked the flashy style .

Let me ask you guys ,
When you choose a powder coat color , do you also choose a clear coat with a fleck or pearl effect. Or just clear coat the powder coat color chosen. Say that ten times fast!

Thanks guys .

Absolutely Gorgeous

Thanks, first go at it myself.

Quoted from mandelbloom:

Looka good , is that illusion royal or illusion blue?

Good eye, that would be illusion royal.
Half the people say its purple and half say it's blue . Exactly what I was going for .

#974 2 years ago

Quoted from MustangPaul:I like it. "first go at it" means you shot it yourself?

Not quite, tear down and reassembled.
But I chose the color, not as hard as I thought it would be , actually pretty straight forward.

Quoted from Stones:

Looks awesome!
Is that chrome around the coin door mechs?

Thanks Stones ,
Sure is , Chrome bezels, coin return, shooter rod & ball from Chris Royalty .
Funny story my Beagle puppy chewed up the first set Chris sent, so I had to wait for the new ones to show up before I could reassemble the coin door.

Feel free to post pictures of her.

So she's been powder coated ?

Quoted from Nevus:

Looks great golfingdad. I love the purple refinery uses on their Metallica and was looking for something in the purple/blue range for my GB Premium. I may go with the one you chose.

I have a Refinery Metallica, and I can say the illusion line of colors is an exact match.

Quoted from Jarbyjibbo:

Quick question, how are you guys coating your coin doors? Are you completely disassembling them? Leaving the door on the hinge and removing everything else? Or just removing things off the back of the door?
Thanks for the help!

I removed all coin mechs, coin door and coin door housing .
The coin mechs are really pretty straight forward just take pics.
You will also need to remove the bill validation panel. 4 screws

#1020 2 years ago
Quoted from Jarbyjibbo:

Gotcha, so you removed the door from the hinge? Is that hard? I've done the complete rest of the door but not the door from the frame.

Leave the hinge connected to the door but removed from the housing , 4 screws inside left edge of door/housing .

#1029 2 years ago
Quoted from Blackjacker:

Anyone here gone all-in and pulled the hinge pin out to split the hinge before powder coating?

I didn't see the need, but I would guess that it would make getting the hinge back together almost impossible with the powder on every little connecting point of the hinge .

#1035 2 years ago
Quoted from Jarbyjibbo:

Sorry for the confusion, that was for B (golfingdad) who just did his GB. I was quoting your text to reference the point of your statement.

Here you go guys .
Just a very small flake on the last hinge , bottom. Other wise all good .20170603_082436 (resized).jpg

Anyone ever do something with a Baywatch?

#1153 2 years ago

I know the first guy to respond will just say , "why"....
Just curious.

Quoted from Colsond3:

I saw one done in yellow in one of the other threads...maybe bigd1979's? Don't remember off the top of my head.

How about Brass ?
That could look great, might double the cost of the pin.

Quoted from Jarbyjibbo:

I've looked through the entire thread and see no WH20 with PC. Anyone have any pics or suggestions?
White comes to mind, I think I remember seeing a WW in white that looked pretty sharp. I would think that blue wouldn't end up looking right. If you nail the color exactly, then everything just disappears. If you don't, it just clashes.

Dude , Chrome !!!!
