JB Pro I had done in a nice red to match logo on the side and red trim on head. Sorry, not sure which color as in house color. Anyone near Toronto, highly recommend Rice Rocket Powder Coating, do a great job!

Interesting history of the movie being made.

Best $20,000 ever spent on Donald Pleasance. He brings real gravitas to the role. Carpenter was a master at creating a grave atmosphere. The Fog has it, and The Thing is drowning in it. I can’t imagine Halloween without Donald Pleasance. I just wish the made-for-tv extra scene in the auditorium where Loomis objects to Michael being kept at Smiths Grove had been filmed in 78. He tells them security isn’t adequate. “This catatonia is a conscious act. Michael is waiting.”
“For what?”
“I don’t know.”
“You’ve fooled them, haven’t you, Michael. But not me.”

Question for anyone one who could answer.. is it possible to powdercoat the top half of the legs, siderails, etc. a darker shade (of green) then fade down to a lighter shade to match say the green on the Metallica logo on the side of a pro?!

Not easily done with powder coat. Would be much better off using an oil based paint for this.

Thinking about getting my Black Rose wireform powder coated. Is there a special treatment that need to be done for the paint to hold on wireforms?

#1978 6 months ago

Yes, they need to be sanded, or finely sandblasted, then fine sandpaper to make it adhere properly. Cleaned thoroughly, and alcohol wiped, and dried before applying any paint.
Chrome must be completely dull, and no missed spots, or the paint will not adhere.

Ok, thanks. I was affraid the sandblasting would explode the whole thing.

Explode metal with sanblasting? I'm pretty sure that's not a thing. At least not in my sandblasting cabinet. You use different abrasive media per what you are cleaning/stripping. I use baking soda for delicate stuff, walnut hulls, agrigate, sands of different sizes, and strengths, even glass, and metal beads depending on the job.
Much like anything else, there is a "right tool" for each job.
Take it somewhere, let a pro do it, one, and done, and a small wireway won't be much money to have done right.

My fear was that it would break the welds, was just checking first. But yeah I'm taking it to a pro in my region. I just wanted to be sure in case he ask questions, we don't have pinball specific powder coater over here. Anyway thanks for the help.

One last question for you guys. I took my parts to a local powder coater and he was asking me about clear. Do you guys usually put a clear coat after powder coating the armor/legs,etc? Even on the wireforms?

I had clear on the couple I have had done.

It depends on what you're doing and your preference. If you do something with a flake, I would recommend it (like a disco purple). If you do an illusion color, it's a 2 part and doesn't need an additional clear. I generally use a vision clear when I want an extra clear coat on it.

Looking for some Mandalorian Premium Powder Color ideas... Not digging the orange. Anyone used the LE silver?

#1987 6 months ago

Here’s my Zilla, decked out in a powder coat of prismatic’s Lollypop red on a coat of silver vein. The red got much darker thanks to the silver vein. But it fits well with the burgundy in the decal art. The texture is reptilian like - smooth but with tiny bumps. Did a set of leg bolts in yellow to add in some other color from the flames.
This was done by Ultimate Powder Coating in Maryland, about 1/2 hour west of Baltimore. $280 all included. Very reasonable.
Took a long time today to swap everything over. Many thanks to dinot for recommending Ultimate PC, lending me his armor and just being a terrific guy.

I’m assuming it’s Rockstar Sparkle, which would have been applied on top of the red.
