I've had about 20 games done., Powder coating makes such a nice addition. Normally I don't like to repeat colors, but I just had Mandalorian and GNR done and went with same color on both.

Is that the Illusion Cherry for the GnR SE? Thanks.

Yes , the prismatic color

#1704 2 years ago

I have the illusion cherry on my INMDN Pro and it looks sharp there as well.

Here is one you don’t see very often, Elvis trim in Illusion Cherry and legs in Black Gloss. Didn’t go with the typical gold that some games have.

Looks sharp. I'm a big fan of illusion cherry, I did my INMDN in it... and my wife's pie plate holder

Thanks, I was thinking of doing my AC/DC Pro in the same color but I think it is a bit dark for that game.

I just powder coated my EHOH in Illusion Cherry from Prismatic Colors. I love the deep, rich color vs. factory flat black it was.

What I'm not sure of is; weather the display / speaker panel is too much red and is overpowering. I may go back to black on it.

I included a picture of the Collector's Edition that has redish / orange powder coating with the speaker panel in black for reference

What are your thoughts?

I've never done speaker panels on my PC jobs but I don't think it looks bad by any means. My OCD thing is that I always have to do the coin doors though. I can't have all this sharp looking powder coating on my pin and a huge plain black door right in the middle of the front of the pin. I may start to dabble in the speaker panels now that you have made me think about it though. I'd like to do my new JP Prem soon and I'm just trying to figure out a color. I'd really like to have the custom caution airbrush set from over seas but not interested in paying $1200-$1500 for it so I'll stick with my $200-$300 PC jobs.

LOVE the EHOH.

I just scored a unicorn. A Star Trek (TNG) HUO, one owner. Beautiful. I have seen this machine powdercoated light/bright blue, black, chromed, and black with star speckles and maybe a midnight blue and purple. None of these jump out at me as being the best choice. (I do not like chroming because of the endless fingerprints.)

I am thinking about going for a powdercoated silver with sparkles. Something like the Beatles Diamond edition...or maybe even a gray like the Mando LE Beskar color. I think many get a silver on Pinbot....

Any thoughts or recommendations?

This photo is not mine. Just from a google search.

If it’s a mint HUO game I would leave it stock.

Enjoy it for what it is …

No reason just to powdercoat it just for powdercoatings sake. Look at the picture you posted .. it’s a thing of beauty!

I’m exactly the opposite. 99% of the time a powdercoated coin door looks garish to me.

The black makes it “disappear” … when you see say a bright yellow one on TSPP it says LOOK AT ME I’M A COIN DOOR IM VERY BIG AND BERY UGLY AND VERY YELLOW lol

But each to their own.

I too feel the same way on a bright PC'd coin door. That's why I didn't PC it.

Still on the fence about the speaker / display on my EHOH. The black is very low subtle.

I'd be interested in more opinions out it.

Thanks for looking.

I think it looks good.

The way I go with my powdercoating is to make the pin look “enhanced stock” … ie the pin could have/should have come out of the factory in the colour you’ve done it in. If you go through my posts in this thread you’ll see some of them … all very “stock” looking.

Your display panel looks like “enhanced stock” to me so it passes my test.

With that colour you could do the coin door too - it wouldn’t stand out at all. Very subtle. That colour matches the art great. But the standard black door looks fine.

LoL I can definitely see that. To me I just can't handle they don't match. But again, that's just my own OCD.

On another note rotordave how on earth do you own 116 machines and have another 116 machines previously owned? That’s an insane amount of powdercoat lol

That does sound like a lot I guess. Lol

They come and go - I got my first one 30 years ago ….

Pretty happy with my current lineup. Someone asked me the other day “which pins do you want to get?” “Hmmmmm …. none”.

Yes, it’s a rural area 40 mins south of Auckland.

Lots of market gardens on our side of town, and horses on the other side. Cows everywhere else.

Check out the dark volcanic soil … some of the best crop growing soil in the world. Pics taken up the top of our road yesterday while we were out walking. We live on the side of a dormant volcano. The whole of Auckland is built on 50+ volcanic cones.

Powder coating any part of a game is very subjective of course, but I don't think you're OCD at all.

Powder coating the coin door too is a matter of completing the finish and aesthetics to me. I think they can be done tastefully and with additional accent colors/finishes as well such as the coin slot bezels. The only time I've considered them to be garish looking is when the powder coat color chosen for the game, to begin with, is garish itself.

My Halloween coin door came out good. Love me some Illusion Cherry and Gunmetal Gray.

Just need a better eject button and have to polish the chute flap.

Machines look great!

Figure this is the best place to ask. If you take the coin door off properly, would you still be able to play the pin? This would be for a new Stern/JJP machines.

Thanks

#1726 2 years ago

I want to both thank everyone who posts the manufacturer and exact color they used as well as encourage everyone else who posts to do so. It's really helpful when you see something you like to already know those details to go get yours done.

You’d need to keep the door interlock switch pressed down. And maybe have the door controls plugged into the harnesss.

I’m not sure if the new Interlock switches are the “pull out to lock” type like they used to use. If they are - pull them out. If not, tape them closed.

I have a Stern Star Wars Premium that I am thinking of doing a white powdercoat on (stormtrooper theme). Has anyone done this or knows anyone who has done this? I know I've seen a picture of this done somewhere, but I can't find it now.

Sharing pictures of my AIQ Premium with custom "Captain America" blue powder coat from Steve at the Pinball Refinery. I'm super happy with how it turned out! Steve does amazing work and was able to get everything done in 2 weeks. Feels like a new game to me. Can't wait to see what he can do for me on my Premium Godzilla.

I also added some Comet RGB flipper buttons to finish off the game. Thanks again Steve!

Anyone know the Godzilla LE color? Im trying to figure out what color to go with on my premium, just ordered some powder and it wasn't in stock so I was charged and then refunded quick... looking for somethin awesome really wanted a super holographic rainbow effect on a gunmetal or silver base but ai can't find another. Figure the LE color may be my option but mechagodzilla isn't on my cabinet. Really wanted a funky back spikes color too hmm. What to do.
