I've looked through all 33 pages on this topic and love them all. The manufacturers should have originally offered these great color options. But, I guess the original thought was these would be in some dark bar or pub and they were there to make money for the owners. Whatever, I like it!

I liked Scott´s TBL in copper look.
https://www.thisweekinpinball.com/guest-post-the-big-lebowski-pinball-project-by-scott-forman/
Real copper would be too expensive due it has also to be clearcoated. So I decided to powdercoat.
To get a nice copper finish first all parts were sanded down, powdered in chrome and than powdered in candy copper lasur.
Some new parts were bought f.eks. the glass trim in metall, not like original plastic. Apron, Siderails, Hinges, CoinDoor ... so I can use the new black parts later on.
As a special I also coated the frame for the great TBL-topper with real bowling pin.
Hardest task was to powder the hinge of the coindoor because chrome and copper powder became to thick. So we sanded it again and got it powdered only in copper.
I like the result ....

I was inspired by gene Cunninghams BBB with candy purple ... so thats what I wanted.
I'm curious - does the powdercoat chip or flake when tightening down the leg bolts? Has anyone used clear nylon washers or the like to protect them when re-assembling with the newly powdercoated legs? I'm picking up a few sets of legs and hardware tomorrow from my local shop that I had done for JP Prem and Elvira HoH.
Thanks!

Yes, it will (or can) chip if you torque them down. Good powdercoating is pretty resistant and durable, but not to grinding force.
Definitely use nylon washers, and put your thumb and middle finger at the bottom of the socket as you ratchet to create a cushion when you’re tightening them down.

Awesome thank you! Will do

This has been difficult - each time I have brought my parts to the painter, the paint starts to chip off from the hinge of the coin door or where the inner coin door meets the outer part of the coin door. Is is just question to paint those parts more thin or what would one have to do so that it would not happen?
Some pics for reference from my GB. [Sorry for derailing the topic a bit...]
IMG_9165 (resized).jpgIMG_9196 (resized).jpgIMG_9197 (resized).jpgI would stay away from doing 2 coat colours on the hinges as it is a bit too thick. One colour usually works ok but also ask the person doing your powder coating if he can open and close hinge a few times after he takes it out of oven to free it up.

I think there is an art to it. I have two stage colors on all my games and non of them have chipped at the hinges. I think that it's a combination of the skillset leveraged in the application, watching how thick you put it on, and maybe even try swinging the hinges open/shut between applications when the coating is thin might help to reduce/eliminate the cracking. I was worried of this at first when I did my first few games but 10 or so games later, so far so good.
Quoted from Jarbyjibbo:I think there is an art to it.
Yes if you do it yourself or bring it in to someone that does pinball parts. But I'm sure a lot of people are just bring these in to get done at local shop.

As do I, they're just really good at it I guess. As with anything, there's an art to it that you just get better at with time, experience, and attention to detail. Pinball parts are definitely an extreme rarity at my coater.

I concur. Black looks good on pretty much everything.

Dormant Transparent Sparkle Granny Smith by Tiger Drylac
I was going to go with a Prismatic Powder color (Illusion Green Ice), but the last machine I did (Star Wars 2 posts up) took a couple of weeks for the powder to come in. The powdercoater had this color on hand so I went with it as I am impatient.
Next up (parts are at the powdercoater) is Stranger Things. And after that, Mandalorian Premium (Yes, I am powdercoating before I actually have the machine)

Looks like a nice TMNT color choice! Got a pic that shows the entire game more?
Quoted from J85M:Any Deadpool premiums in here? Curious what you guys have done.
Here you go. Done by Robert Stone.

I’ve seen one done in orange that looks pretty nice, but it had new decals. Faded decals with orange might not look as great.
Gloss or mirror black would probably look great, and brighten up the playfield.

I would go with gloss or ink black. I’ve used gloss black on a lot of games I’ve done.
Unless you want something more loud. Then you could go gloss black with orange or red speckling. Or even yellow?

Yes, one of my idea was black with some yellow flakes, but i dont see that available.
I will look at ink black. Thx
Prismatic Candy Grape II.
I like the way this came out. My kids chose the color. I had wanted Illusion Violet, but since this is "their" pin, I let them pick the color. I also spray paint the carriage bolts gloss black.

Nicely done - kudos to your kids for their color matching creativity! I like how you have added the full waffle effect to the coin reject and start buttons too (presumably via the fine folks at Rocket City Pinball)!

Yes indeed. Rocket City Start/Coin reject buttons are on all of my machines.
