I recently PC'd my TZ in gloss black. I installed the PC'd metal yesterday. I used a brand new micro fiber cloth and "Sparkle" window cleaner, to remove light residue & fingerprints. I now have many ultra-fine scratches in the surface.

I own other PC games that came NIB w/ PC WOZ / ACDC and don't have these issues.

Power Coat questions:

Is there a time frame to allow it to set up?

Is there another cleaning method to avoid this?

Would a coat of good wax hide / eliminate the ultra fine scratches?

I have 2 more pins I'm going to PC (Indiana Jones & another TZ).

Thanks for your input.

That’s the nice thing about high gloss black . I buffed using some fine 3m polishing compound and then wax .

Quoted from Kerry_Richard:

Did you use the 2-stage clear? If it is 2-stage, it should have a clear coating on the top, but it is still susceptible to light, fine scratches if the wrong cleaning agents/supplies are used.

Quoted from Kerry_Richard:

Is there another cleaning method to avoid this?

You need a small, fine microfiber cloth for armor and powdercoated metal. The larger microfiber cloths are still even slightly abrasive, and can leave fine scratching. Even if you use the softer side.

And especially combined with Windex or other window cleaners. I use Flitz and a small micro cloth. I get no scratches, and it creates a coating of polish that makes cleaning just a quick wipe down for a good while after.

You should be able to buff them out.

I don't know what method they do Powder Coating... I believe it's not a 2-part clear, like you'd see on an automotive top coat, over a painted car.

I have 3 new small bottles of Flitz. I may try it in a small area (front glass rail, under lockbar) to test it out. I'll top it with some good wax.

Thanks!

Three things:

1: That looks nice. I think I like that better than the yellow I've seen on FG before.
2: Ohh the horror of such a young impressionable mind playing FG (JK love the show, people are too sensitive)
3: Your pins need more remote controls

#1595 4 years ago

4: I'm not a fan of the silver t-molding on the Stern backbox. Black T-molding would look better between Pin*bot and Getaway.
