I think that's the way it's supposed to look, a textured look the side rails are the same.

On illusions you need a top clear to activate the colour, maybe he used a different textured clear? Ive done illusions and they should be smooth after.

Here’s a Shadow that me and my buddy Warwick put together a few months ago.
Most metalwork powdercoated in gloss black - except the ramps that I polished up with a polishing wheel on my drill press.
Black suits this game nicely.

Another project *almost* finished. 
Scared Stiff - started as a well beaten route game. Full strip, cabinet restore, new ramps, and gloss black powdercoat on all the metalwork.
Just waiting for a couple of parts to finish it off.

I've been noodling a color for my Star Wars Pro... that metallic grey/silver really looks fantastic IMHO. Its difficult to beat black on this game... I just don't want a color that's going to stick out like a sore thumb... that color you've chosen is just right.

Thank you very much guys. This is my first time powdercoating a machine, and I wasn't sure what kind of responses I'd get. I really appreciate your comments. This machine isn't being prettied up to be sold, its one of our favorites and the plan is to keep it forever. This is our 2nd F14. Should have never sold the 1st one. We think these changes are good, and we love the way it looks. Again, thanks guys!

The decals on White Water are so drab that it definitely needs some bling. Chrome coin doors do look nice on those.
