Thanks! I love how it turned out!
Quoted from He-Man40:After seeing The Pinball Refinery’s custom blue Spider-Man VE at The Texas Pinball Festival, I had to do mine in blue.
I think Stern missed the mark on this, it looks so much better in blue, and they didn’t use their normal black wrinkle anyway.
That looks so nice!
Not done the resto yet, but most of the powder coated parts put back on. Posted in my other thread, but thought I would share here too.

Holly Shzt! That is awesome. My Zip A Doo had the same coin door, but I couldn't get it nearly as nice as yours. Powder coat helps I guess, but I haven't been able to get the rust off the non-powder coat stuff that well. I'm still learning.
How long did that take you?

Holy fak, looks gorgeous!

Thanks man. I'm really happy with the illusion cherry. I think it adds a nice accent to the game, and brings out the reds on the PF, BG and plastics.

There's detailed info in my resto thread, so I would check that out. I posted a few pics below, but didn't' want to clog this thread up with all of them. It took quite a while, and Bonehead Performance did all of the powder coating.
My coin door was in horrible shape, so it had to be totally redone. I stripped every part off, then had the skin and carriage bolts PC'd in glossy pearl black, the coin returns and bezels in PC chrome (not as bright as actual chrome, but 1/8 of the price), and the trim and various parts on the back in illusion cherry with black speckling. I polish the rest of the mechs the best I could with steel wool and a Dremel.
The coin door skin on this style of Bally games was painted some type of dark gray or flat black right out of the factory, so you can't really polish or refurb it easily without painting it.
And if you're going to repaint it, you should really just PC it glossy black so it holds up for a LONG time. I still have to grind down the coin return buttons/posts that go under the bezels, as PC'ing them made them a little thicker.

Wow! That is the first time I have seen a white PC game that I really liked. That looks INCREDIBLE

Kind of remarkable how purple looks good on almost any game -

Thanks! Both these guys do great work and very reliable
Quoted from Colsond3:All done and playing 100%.
That looks so bloody nice!
Nice job man!
Thanks guys....it's been a long road, and the first 20 games I just played felt awesome. Played a few the other night when I got it together, but it had a few issues.
Whoever says they don't like clearcoated playfields, didn't play a game with it done right. I put up a few videos on the Tube, links in my restoration thread. Back to playing

She came out fantastic man!!! Glad I could take part in the resto. Enjoy it!!!!

Looks sharp, I hope you have the Stern metal cab protectors on that newly decal'd cab.
Quoted from Soulrider911:It sure does mustangpaul !
Make sure to trim the decal around the cab protector.

Are there any tips or better yet videos on this ???
Quoted from mollyspub:Are there any tips or better yet videos on this ???
Pretty simple. Leave the protector in place and use it as a guide. Cut the decal with your razor blade of choice running the blade along the edge of the protector. Remove the protector and remove the cut part of decal. Reinstall the protector.

I wish those things wern't so expensive, mass produced they can't be more then 10 cents apiece.

Thanks for posting that Bryan. What is the reason for doing this? Guessing it helps prevent wrinkling?
Quoted from Cserold:Thanks for posting that Bryan. What is the reason for doing this? Guessing it helps prevent wrinkling?
Wrinkling doesn't always happen if you don't cut out the decal, but it can.
Picture the metal protector bent at about 85 degrees instead of 90. You install the protector. Now you install the leg and as you tighten the bolts, the protector flattens out to 90 degrees. As it does this, it's also grabbing and moving the decal away from the corner.
On newer Stern games, I believe they just cut out the whole corner area where the leg goes. They take no chances.
Quoted from Pinballer22:My custom blacked out taxi I just finished.
I just got my Taxi back.....one of my favorite pins. Your Taxi looks gorgeous. Looks like a new pf too?
Where did you get that topper???
My BSD done by Rob Stone. Game is for sale in the marketplace. Legs have never been installed.
