Quoted from Staythirsty:

Just picked up an AFM with yellow powder coating. Looks cool but not quite my preference. Shoot me cash offer or trade for a nice used stainless set.

You could redo it gloss black ... that looks pretty sweet on AFM.

Here's a pic of my one.

Is that rockstar sparkle? Looks great, I was trying to decide between doing a glossy black and a sparkle top coat on my tz. Hows it look in person?

If you are talking about MM, its Adams Gold (heavy) over ink black...one of the classiest combos out there imho..

That does look great! I might have to call some shops around here.

Mine is also powder coated gloss black. It is the way this game should be in my opinion.

Don't be a cheapskate RD. Get those leg bolts powder coated black. Add in black levelers from pbl.

I like the contrast.

Plus the second you touch powdercoated bolts with a wrench the coating on the corners comes off. Stink!

Can always get soft socket or plastic socket. Option links below.

Or they sell black oxide leg bolts, http://www.marcospecialties.com/pinball-parts/4322-01125-44B should be quite durable

Although I do like that idea of a non marring wrench!

Cool. Hope they fit my impact wrench!

Not enough torque there. Legs need to be stable to hold the game up.

Anyone have pics of a rbion with powder coating? Suggestions for that game?
Thanks

I went chrome with mine.

#713 7 years ago

Hmm...I wonder what chrome on IM and red on RBION would look like.

#714 7 years ago

Probably pretty great! The lighting is terrible in these pictures, the chrome looked a lot nicer in person. I already have a red translucent apron w/ some neat lighting effects in my IM, so it really ties everything together nicely when turned on. The chrome would look great on my Met, and the purple would look cool in RBION. I was going to swap a while ago when I remembered the rails have a giant Metallica logo etched into them haha.

It's a moot point now as I traded my Ripley's for Theatre of Magic, and I think the chrome went onto a Tron where it rightfully belongs. It was my original plan, but never ended up getting one

I did see a Ripley's with a bright orange and it looked really nice.

#715 7 years ago

Just recently had my Getaway parts powder coated red. Shitty photo but it really does look amazing. The f14 is just vinyl wrapped. Wasnt sure if i was going to like yellow or not so decided to just wrap it for now.

The black fits Elvira perfectly !

#724 7 years ago

idk. I woulda went with red to match the PF and t-molding.
Or maybe the t-molding needs to go black.

It's better than the stainless... but doesn't flow to me because of the tmolding.
But hey; it's his machine - as long as he's happy

#725 7 years ago

In red, black, or both!!! It doesn't matter... Elvira is beaytiful anyway....

Here's another machine I've just done ...

Shrek usually has a yellowish powdercoat. It sort of matches Shreks face on the front of the cab. However when I bought this machine, someone had given the metalwork a shitty rattlecan paintjob in some awful green. And you can't match the original powder colour here, nothing was even close really.

So it was blasted back, and I went with a "swamp green" .. cause Shrek lives in a swamp.

Came up ok ... everyone seems to like it.

Met Pro. There are screws along the rail. Is there adhesive along the edge that has to be removed as well? Looking to replace with lollipop rails and then powdercoat. Prior owner had installed a plate around the flipper buttons... After measuring the lollipop rails on my Star Trek Premium, it looks like it should cover everything and even the three screw holes appear to line up. Thanks.

Avoid the temptation to power coat it white.

That's what everyone is telling me. I was considering white, but not now.

I don't have a good camera but here's one that shows the bl carpet kinda good. I even put 21 inch florescent bl's on the underside of each game so the carpet lights up perfect under them, you can kind of see it in the picture.
