Very true. People need to remember this before they criticize people's LED jobs. A lot of these games that look really bad or overblown in the photos actually look great in real life. The camera just doesn't see it like the human eye, especially when there is a large dynamic range. Also, some people just aren't very good at taking photos. 
I agree that using the thumbs up method isn't accurate, since it heavily favors those who posted earlier in the thread. I think we need to vote as a community. People should list their top three favorites, as well as what game they feel is the most unusual. The voting will be cutoff at a specified time. We then tally the votes to determine the winners.
