I have a 1980 Gottlieb Amazing Spider-man pinball machine. I have replaced the bumpers and bulbs. It look good but I believe the boards or fuses need maintenance and/or repair. I am not tied to this machine and would like a pinball machine working that I can play. I do not know if there are some simple troubleshooting steps I could take to determine what the fix will look like. I am wondering if I should sell and buy a different machine, trade this machine for another, or get this one fixed. I found a person that worked on pinball machines in my area but the cost to assess any issues and provide potential troubleshooting and repair costs seemed high. I would appreciate guidance, suggestions, and thought since I don't know what goes into checking boards, fuses etc. or the issues and required fixes that may be needed.

Wow, looks to be in good condition. Think I'd try to do the simple things to determine if it's in need of major repair first. Folks here can help if you have some basic skills . Won't get much $ non working, worth much more working , and you will have learned something . I'd try to repair if I were you . Every game needs a little repair at some point , even if you trade for a working game.

Thanks, if you have suggests on where to start for initial trouble shooting that would be great.

Start by telling us what it does and does not do. Did it ever work for you? Do you know if it is set to Free Play? Do you have the manual for it? This will get things started.

Also, if you decide to keep it and get advice on how to fix it, I would consider changing the thread title to something like "Gottlieb Spider-Man needs some Help" and also put the thread in "Tech games Alpha Numeric" to get a better response. You know it could be something as simple as a fuse. Pictures of the boards in the backbox would help determine if there is visible damage to the boards. Just a few suggestions.

that one is in Amazing shape (see what I did thar? ) , and I enjoy playing one at a pinball league location.

as other have stated, can you remove the back-glass & snap some pics of the circuit boards ?

some good video how to access that area here:
