Probably the only way it lasts is to drill out the housing and put in an oversized nylon bushing...brass would kill the powder as well..suspect it could be done....sure would like to see a pic of this...

Quoted from GreenMarine:Gonna post a pic tonight fellas. I think I can make it work but if worse comes to worse I could always just ask my powder coater to strip the actual rod portion.
?????....think this pic will prove to validate " a picture worth a thousand words" saying....I'm officially very confused now...
Quoted from GreenMarine:I don't know man. People want to see a pic so I'm gonna give them one.
Its just something that is not usually done, even in mod land, as it has a definite " pro vs. Con" aspect.
The pic will help validate the whole thing...just my take
Quoted from GreenMarine:If I could I would. Love me some powder coating.
This is quite obvious....
Good luck.....
Quoted from CrazyLevi:Yup. That's why he's gonna have to bore out the shooter housing hole and make it larger.
It's gonna get uglier before it gets prettier.
Unlike you guys who are in the pointing and laughing business, I'm in the problem solving business.
LET'S DO THIS!
90 posts.....wow!!!! I think I mentioned boring the housing and installing a custom sleeve (or dual brass versions). Better get the micrometer ready.....
My new idea (fits the thread).....I think he should put the rod in a precision lathe, calculate the total thickness of the coating, and simply shave the rod down to size, then powder it again......problem solved, and w stock bushing!!!!!
Quoted from LTG:No. I think many find this refreshing, compared to some of the hate filled threads.
You have a unique perspective on shooter rods and not too many threads have WTF, LOL, and all those initial thingys going on.
I hope you figure a way to make it work.
LTG : )
Completely agree Lloyd.....it's a thread you can't let go because..... part is disbelief, part is good natured fun, and no hate whatsoever. A refreshing change from what goes around here most times....
Quoted from GreenMarine:So the current sleeve just fits in the housing. Tight squeeze. Lol!!
Powdercoated housings are a common mod, as are custom rod HANDLES only ( all of mine glow)....complete trurh....you really need to get that off the rod, leave it on the handle, and powder the barrel spring.
You'll still get the effect you're looking for, and game will play fine. You only see about 1.5" anyway (except when briefly plunging), and the barrel spring w handle gives the look you are after.
Risk vs reward way to great here.....take this route and enjoy your game.....fun post, however....thanks
