OK, working on my EATPM, and the shooter rod tip seems to sit too far back from the ball in the shooter lane.

You have to pull the rod almost all the way back to get any kind of decent plunge and there is no fine control at all. The rod is centered nicely on the ball, but there does not seem to be any adjustment to move the rod a little farther forward.

Playfield is definitely seated correctly.

What do I do to fix this?

Thanks,

Have you recently changed the plungers barrel spring. The wrong spring can cause this. Data east in a Williams wont work.

Sounds like it needs viagra

But seriously did you see if you can let it extend into the shooter lane more by possibly taking the knob off and remove any spacers or spring material?
Has something been done recently to give this problem?

Sometimes the two tabs on the apron that the ball rests on in the shooter lane gets bent. Can you push them in a bit so the ball can rest farther back?

Wrong length of shooter rod.

They come in lengths?

OK that shooter rod and barrel spring listed in that manual link are exactly what I've got from PBL.

Did it match the old one in length?

Yep.

Same length.

"Heh. He said length."

Can you take a picture and show us how the ball rests currently in the shooter lane?

I'm guessing a previous owner used the wrong size washer/e-clip or too many of them when rebuilding the plunger mechanism. Remove the shooter tip and e-clip with pliers and disassemble the rest from there, then tell us what you have.

I had this happen on a game. Bent the tabs back a bit and everything was fine.

Winner Winner, Chicken Dinner.

That was it. The tabs on the sheet metal shooter box or whatever it's called were bent quite a bit forward. Didn't notice it until I was looking through the camera viewfinder.

Thanks all, now I feel like a dumbass.

Sounds like a ball backlash adjustment
