I should break a bunch of these and sell them as PAC-man shooter rods

That really does look like Pacman!
Did you clean and re-use the old one when you restored your Taxi, or is that a brand new one that broke?
If it is brand new, that sucks, do you remember where you bought it?

Careful. It is sharp and can hurt a hand.

Well now your taxi looks like sh*& and you should just give it to me. Do you have a spare on hand? (Shooter rod, not Taxi).

Sell me that earthshaker or no fear and buy a new shooter rod with the cash. Win-win!

Vultures! I just picked up the No Fear and Earthshaker, I'm trying to fill the basement not get rid of games! And Taxi was mothballed for a while. This was a shooter rod from either Marco or Pinball Life. it's definitely the one I bought 3 years ago to restore the game.

I don't know how you could mothball that thing, after putting so much work into it!

Incoming package of bits from Pinball Life within 2-3 business days, let me know if it does not arrive. Then you can rebuild that thing. Choice of transparent red to match spinout and bumpers, OR traditional black, or even switch every other day. Thanks for hooking me up with your excellent left ramp last year when there were none to be found anywhere else.

Holy crap, thank you so much! That is super generous. Yeah I mean the game was 95% done for almost 2 years. Life got in the way, and with a toddler around I couldn't get the game dialed in because the games were in the dining room. I've moved now and have a proper basement so I had a local tech come over and show me where I messed up on Taxi (quite a few places!). I can't tell you how relieved I am to have all my games 100% playable.

BTW did not mean to malign Pinball Life or Marco. they're both vendors I love to order from. This was likely just a defect in the mold. I ended up ordering two of them because I was having such a hard time making the plunge in my game, the one from Pinball life was slightly longer or shorter. The one originally in the game was mushroomed. The other one that wasn't in Taxi got used in Earthshaker, which I bought and also had a mushroomed shooter rod.

No. For some reason that is how they usually break in commercial use. I more suspect one spot continually getting hit by the spring/washer harder than the other sides.

It's probably a high stress part. When you pull the shooter, a force equal to that of both springs is going to act on and stress the handle. When you let it go, the impact force of the ball being hit are going to transfer through the rod and dissipate into the handle too.

I had one break like that on a High Speed I had. I sold the game and it cut me pretty good when we were carrying it out. Still have the scar. Kind of cool to have a pinball scar though.

Most of my pinball scars are in my soul and invisible...

I could make you a custom shooter handle for you to match the games colors. I can mail you just the handle and you can glue it on your existing shooter rod. Just bust off the rest of that plastic handle , and glue on the new one. I would do it for free and paint it up for you if you are interested. Let me know, I can make it up for you tonight, I am always modding. The ModFather
