All games are allowed B\W, Data EAST

My List is:
- Fun House
- F14
- Diner
- Bad Cats
-Whirlwind
-Hook DE

I think a 2.0 kit (improved code and artwork) for JMNM can be cool too... Maybe a 2.0 Matrix kit

Most system 11s could use a code rewrite.

Bad cats, police force come to
Mind.

#3 3 years ago

F-14, it fights back, with new modes!

Police force is not on my top list but can be easy improved! High speed?

#6 3 years ago

Hands down, Funhouse with a DMD and 2.0 code like BOP was done would be the best!

#7 3 years ago

F-14
WhirlWind
These would be interesting to see updated.

#8 3 years ago

Why not a Elvira ATPM 2.0? It's a super fun game.

Indiana Jones (no, not the super-bad one) 2.0 please.

I love the current B/W Indy sound package and art but the current gameplay/rules kind of put me off and Im not really sure why. I just feel there is so much potential in that title and even the best one could be improved a bit.

Sorry, I can't add it.

Not enough love for Lionman here.

If nobody makes a Swords of Fury sequel, I'm going to have to do it myself!

My F-14 project started over 6 years ago, but has just been gathering dust for the last 2 or so. One day I'll get back to it.......

https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/f14-tomcat-second-sortie-information-and-on-going-development

But generally I reckon most of the Sys11 games would be good options. Black Knight 2000 with rules changed / added to stop it being just a "hit the ramp to the upper playfield" game. Make folks have to work the lower playfield before being able to lock balls.

I'm a huge fan of Swords of fury! But yes, no love for Lionman here.... 1 vote...

BK2000 is a little inflationated after the Stern one
About your project was\is it P-Roc based? Is a totally re-themed?

#16 3 years ago

Im still waiting for this to come to life from 6 years ago.

#17 3 years ago

Some of these have already had code extensions, mostly for tournament fairness usage but some (Like Snux's F14 and there's an 8 digit 2x16 display F14 around as well, and a new pinbot that's out with not really mission stuff, but definitely different objectives added).

I've been keeping a list at:
https://sites.google.com/site/allentownpinball/tournament-rom-mods

Not just tournament rom mods, others as well. The tournaments is what it grew out of though. There's undoubtedly others that I haven't listed.... most of these use the original hardware with modified roms vs. swapping out for Proc or similar.

At the now defunct pinhacks site someone put together a "divide by 10" F-14 ROM, stops the score being so easy to rollover. I think I've got a copy of that somewhere.

Yeah, so do I I wish I'd backed up the message boards on that site, there was a lot of good info in there. I got a couple of the files people posted.

Two that I think could use a big update simply because their themes have grown so much since their pins came out, are:
- South Park
- Super Mario Bros.

#21 3 years ago

I would have to say any system 11 game. Whirlwind, High Speed, Cyclone, etc. just a few tweaks here and there to make it better. Multi ball on cyclone would be awesome!!!

Batman TDK to include the third movie

Super Mario Bros. 2.0 can be a great one too!

Hit both ramps simultaneously to ride both coasters at the same time for SUPER JACKPOT !!!!!!

No one for Earthshaker 2.0? - Earthshaker 2.0 The End of the World

#26 3 years ago

I'd rather see, instead of a "2.0" type thing like bop, just a rewriting of codes. This would be much less expensive to do i'd think/

Go for it!

If you learn the system 7 architecture, it's not much of a stretch to go into system 11. It's the same concept, a superset of system 7, really.

Yup. Maybe all those gimmicky progressive jackpots and random multiballs killed on location back in the day, but it's boring for good players, bad for leagues, and unusable for tourneys.

#31 3 years ago
Quoted from yancy:

progressive jackpots

I actually love these. I love how they slowly build game to game. Just me. But i could see them not great for tourneys.

Bad cats is one game that could be SOOO much better than it is. It's the code that's boring as hell. High speed too. And someone with the idea of a multiball cyclone would be awesome.

#32 3 years ago

To me, system 11's generally have:

1. great rule sets

yet often have:

2. progressive jackpots (which are stupid for the home market)

So while I'm not clamoring for 2.0's for system 11s -- I think all system 11's should have the progressive jackpots disabled in updated ROMs

I'm much more excited for 2.0's for early solid states that are often missing newer inventions like: multiball, speech, hurry ups, etc.

#33 3 years ago
Quoted from mof:

That's been done in all of them AFAIK for tournaments. Some probably need some revisions at this point like the pinbot ones that either lock it at 100k or 750k (papa uses the 100k one, it completely removes the incentive of shooting the jackpot during multiball, I'd rather collect up a doubled energy value at that point instead if I've already got 5x, and the repeatability of the solar value during multiball is silly for a 750k jackpot each time - that's too much).

Some of them have the ability to do that stock although the choice of the way it was done was stupid IMO - I think Jokerz for instance sets it to 16 million for all players all the time - so the game comes down to who can start multiball, and collect at least one jackpot. You win.

Progressive jackpots are ok if you build them per player per game. The home market was definitely not something they were thinking of back then.... progressive jackpots def. grew out of carryover features from the 50s/60s, early 80s. Oh boy, the jackpot on pinbot is 8 million!! Let me play it and get the HSTD in a cheezy manner.

Remember the seemingly hard limitation of 99k being the max bonus on so many of the system 11's? F-14 was a breath of fresh air there but 127k. I think probably the first game that let you get >1,000,000 in bonus with 8x127.

I have been watching this thread. I also agree that earthshaker needs an upgrade.

#36 3 years ago

The first one that comes in my mind is Star Strek from Stern. It can be surprising but I would like a new code, not an update, a whole new code.

I was thinking the same thing. Since he's building a board from scratch, there's nothing to say that it couldn't easily be used for other system 11's as well.

Funhouse 2.0 is going to happen... NEXT?

I'm interested in Earthshaker

#42 1 year ago

Hook has to be close to the cheapest game on that list. It has some of the best artwork of any game and one of the coolest ramp shots. With a code update, you could potentially have yourself an A-list game for under 4k. Unimaginable now...
