Does anybody here know how Stern originally shipped this machine from the factory back in the day (1982)?

It's a strange machine with a big protruding plastic bubble on the face of the head. I don't even know how the head is attached.

Asking because I'm considering buying one and would have to ship it.
I really don't want to get it all busted up because the parts are so hard to come by. The bubble would be unobtainium.

I have used NAVL/STI before to ship a pin on legs. It arrived with a twisted leg and split front corner. But that was at least fixable.
Everything else has been shipped from factory in box on pallet, or picked up in person.

Please advise to avoid a potential disaster, thanks in advance.

Don't ship it.

I've shipped STI/NAVL many times with legs on and without any issues. Your prior incident would be an anomaly, IMO. I would go that route and have the seller wrap the head with a moving blanket/extra cushion on the front and then card board or something rigid on the outside of that. If the legs are in nice shape, I would have the seller wrap those too since those can get knocked around and nicked up if left bare.
