    Hello everyone,

I purchased this stuff to clean my playfield. All I'm trying to do is give it a good clean so that I can wax it after. Before I go ahead and use it, I figured I'd check with you guys to see if anyone has used it before on modern Sterns to clean the pf? I'm cleaning my Sopranos.

The product is from Sherwin Williams and is called VM&P Naphtha. The part number is 154-8700 and can be found here

The sds info and the product data page can be found here.

I've also attached a picture of the can itself.

    Thanks guys!

    Quoted from dr_nybble:

    Vid would be proud!
    It’s fine

You've used it on your machines? Thanks for the help!

Saw that but I don't think anybody has used this specific version of the product. I was worried it might not be the same formula.

Great thanks a lot. Glad to hear others have used it with no ill effects. Cheers.

One more thing, do you wear any protective gear when you use this stuff? If so, what do you use?

    Quoted from bam10:

    Gloves for sure.

Rubber gloves? Like those used when handling household cleaning products?

Thanks for all the help guys. My pin is in my basement. I've read that the product should only be used outdoors or in well ventilated areas. How many of you have used this indoors? Does any of the smell linger? Should I be worried about the evaporated fumes?

Thanks for all the help guys. All great advice. Fans and open windows for sure. Also rubber gloves.

It did a good job! Dirtiest places were shooter rod end, shooter lane, pop area and flipper area. I had a window open and a fan blowing air out the window. I also had a fan directly above the playfield moving fumes away. I could still sometimes get a wiff of the stuff but overall didn't smell too strong. Also ensured the can was closed in between applications. Rubber gloves worked fine and I didn't get any irritation on my hands despite the gloves becoming wet with contact with the Naphtha. Here are some before and after pics of the inlanes where it's most noticeable. The machine wasn't too dirty to begin with but you can tell the grime is gone. Thanks everyone for all the help. Gonna wax it with blitz wax now!
