The Shelter recently went free to play every day, pinball and arcade machines. No cover.

Current hours Thursday-Sunday 6:30pm-12am

They have also joined the New England Pinball League, they will be playing on Sundays alternating with Js Pizza.

According to the comments, The Shelter will be in the annex building on the backside of Fête Music Hall. There will be a 50 inch TV in the back of the room for consoles.

You all have been very patient, but it's finally time to announce - Shelter Arcade Bar will officially be open to the public seven days a week beginning Friday, June 10th. Grand Opening party details soon to follow.

When does Shelter Arcade Bar open to the public?
Shelter will open to the public on Friday, June 10th, and will be open 4 PM to 1 AM seven days a week thereafter.

Will there be an opening party?
Yes! We will be planning a night of fun, drinks, music, and free games for some time shortly after we open to public. Watch the Facebook page for an RSVP link. It will be a first come, first serve event.

How much will games cost?
Shelter Arcade Bar will be a classic arcade, with video games costing $0.25 and pinball $0.50

Will I need to bring quarters?
We will have change machines on site to change your bills into quarters and an ATM will be available to take out cash.

Will the bar really be ready for June 10th?
Absolutely. We will be able to open the bar and the game floor from June 10th forward while we put some finishing touches on the decoration and design. Shelter Arcade Bar will be your hangout, and we’d love to hear your ideas on what we should do with it next, what games we should rotate in, and what beers you’d like to see on the menu.

Will there be food?
Yes, Shelter Arcade Bar has a kitchen and chef, and we will be service gaming inspired pub food “Power Ups” during specific hours of operation that will be decided based on demand.

"UPDATE: we invite you as we open this weekend Friday and Saturday for a soft opening of Shelter Arcade Bar from 6-close! We'll be serving craft cans and arcade themed cocktails.
We had hoped to be open 7 days a week from here out. Our kegerator broke two days before opening, and electrical delays prevented us from painting, but we wanted to open for the weekend anyhow! We'll close next week to finish the work and keep you updated on more opening dates ASAP. Keep watching for Grand Opening Party plans as well with music, free games, and more!"

Thank you!

We have had an absolutely awesome first two months at Shelter Arcade Bar and that is entirely thanks to all of you who have made Shelter a regular hang out for you and your friends. We have a lot of exciting progress coming up that we can't wait to share with all of you.

​HOURS

You may have noticed that we were experimenting with hours and days in the first few months. As with every new business, we need to figure out what days and times will be the best for us to be open. As of right now, our hours are as follows:

Thursday - Sunday 6:30 PM - 1 AM (or until the crowd dies down)

We plan to expand those hours, finally open our kitchen, and add more days of operation once the fall hits when students return and those beach days begin to dwindle. Imagine this winter when it's freezing out, being able to have a warm place to hang that has video games and alcohol and all of your friends?

FREE PINBALL SUNDAYS

For several weeks now, we've been having #freepinballsundays with all of the pins being set to Free Play, and it's been a huge success! We also plan to begin a weekly "How to Play" session for beginners and avid players alike, discussing game rule sets, how to control the ball, and how to earn higher points on each machine. Plans are also in the works to put together a Providence Pinball League, which will compete on a regional and national level. More on that later! In the meantime, come by each and every Sunday for free pinball!

KITCHEN

Opening our kitchen has been a challenge, but we're working on a menu and staff and plan to have the kitchen open for after-work hours into late night by this September. We're all looking forward to being able to offer quality eats to make Shelter an even better place to hang!

We have a bunch of things on our list for the upcoming weeks, including a sign for the front as well as a cool design for the entrance, painting and artwork inside, TVs hooked up to Amazon FireTV playing 80s and 90s classics, movie nights, vintage consoles at the booths, and more seating. Shelter is a work in progress, and it will only get better and better.
