Quoted from Tomass:

Well this sux. I am on a 7 day quarantine after being exposed to Covid at work. A whole week stuck in my room to protect the family as well.

That does indeed suck. I hope your allright and dont catch it.

#402 3 years ago

Wtf? That sucks Tomass. Sorry to hear that.

#404 3 years ago

Thanks guys. I run a kitchen in an assisted living home. Had a resident go completely unresponsive and not breathing, and was drooling and some vomit also. Covid is going through our building so I knew I was putting myself at risk. I picked her up in her seat and held her head and tried to get her to respond. She eventually took a deep gasp and was breathing sporadically. Good thing is that she was seemingly fine by the time she went out in an ambulance. Found out the next morning that she tested positive.

#405 3 years ago
Quoted from Freeplay40:

Have you been tested?

My safety manager wants me to wait at least 48 hrs before getting a test. If negative, my quarantine is only 7 days.

#406 3 years ago

Wow....That's about as close as you can get! Stay safe!

I now have the utmost respect for you. Maybe you will say its your job, anyhow that is fucking hardcore.

Thanks, but it was just the right thing to do. I have to believe that any decent person would do the same. I bet you would have done the same also.

This is the closest I have been to Alaska.

Lol. Sockeye are the best imo.

One day I am going to take a vacation to Alaska and catch my own salmon. Just not in the winter.

That is a good plan. Come when there is 20+ hrs of sun up. Then you can catch a 4 hr sunset / sunrise as well. Make sure to reach out if you think of it and I am still around. I can tell you all the best places that are not on a tourist brochure.

#415 3 years ago

The test site is a drive through now. Maybe because its -2 right now at the warmest part of the day. Lol

We're all rootin' for ya! Any symptoms? I thought I had it about a month and a half ago. Tested and turned out negative. I had developed a cough but turns out it was likely caused by my ignoring the stay home advisory when the smoke from CA was here...Not a good idea to be working hard outside at the time.

Thanks! So far no symptoms. Staying holed up in my bedroom is getting old already but I don't want to put the family at risk when I can prevent it.

Nice save Tomass! Hoping for the best!

I was planning on a ski trip with my kids up there this year. Needs to be an early Easter (kids' school break) if we want to get to some of the areas. Even if somehow Covid goes away, Alaska Airline got rid of a lot of flights and the new schedule doesn't work too well. So 2024 it is!

Booked for Seattle instead, but not counting on it happening. No people other than us booked on one flight and only two on the other.

Well I had planned on heating and insulating it this past fall with our PFD check, but whisper's vet bill meant holding off till next year. Otherwise I would love a quarantine out there.

Alyeska is supposed to be a nice ski resort. Never skied myself. I know at Hatcher pass they just built a new lift this past year. It is probably up and running.

You got me to google this, and I learned something. Good stuff. I wish I (and my dog) could be put in this frogcicle state and be thawed up post covid.

Very happy to hear your covid free!

Almost forgot to apply for my drawing hunts next year. One year I applied on the last day but I didn't know the cutoff was 5pm. Missed it by a couple hours. Not sure if the last day is today or tomorrow, but I just got them in. Hopefully I can get something next year and post up some pics.

Merry Christmas all! This forum still feels like a gift each day there is a new post.

#432 3 years ago

Merry Christmas! We had a great Christmas eve here. Had a 10# case of crab legs that had 9 legs and 1 claw. Average of 1# a leg! That may be the biggest I have had.

Anyone on this thread heard of "Hunt a Killer"? My boss got me a 6 month sub for it. Guess they send me a box of clues each month for 6 months as a murder mystery game.

we are part time alaska peeps, Ive had my home in sterling alaska since 2006 and we are back and forth from there and idaho.
I bought lots and pins on the peninsula over the years but most were shipped back to the states. pulled my medieval madness out of good time charlies strip club and later that exact pin was sent by me to Chicago game to be torn down to get the bill of materials for the MM remake.
1 year later they send it back all restored for me with my original harness and board set. we fish salmon and halibut and get clams, fun stuff!

Sunset behind the Sleeping Lady (mt Susitna). Best part of this pic is that it was taken at 5pm. Loving the extra daylight.

Yeah, for real. Those are some really nice kings.

Quoted from newpinbin:

Most I have caught have been about like this one below but a few have been bigger. I would love to hook a 50 pounder though. Salmon put up a huge fight too.
Found a pic of a moose from a few years back too.

Good day on butts, the big one was mine, I had another twin to that one that got off the line next to the boat before I could get a harpoon in it. Also caught a good size octopus that day, silvers from the kenai near home!
