Love Alaska! We were supposed to be going on a cruise there next week

Our days are pretty long now, so it should be a great trip.

Our cruise was canceled, so not making it there this year. Was there in June a couple of years ago and it was awesome! Daylight until midnight!

Sorry, my eyes are not what they used to be. I saw "are" when you wrote "were. Sorry to hear that.

I'm pretty sure my Alaska trip in August will be cancelled....these lodges need to mobilize in April /May (which is a ton of work). I wouldn't be surprised if most just shut it down for the year.

There are not a lot of cases up here. Stuff is starting to open up and there are guidelines for how charters can open as well. Things seem pretty normal to me.

Grabbed a couple pics on my way to work again. They don't do it justice but still nice.

yeah, its nuts theyre all knees and elbows.

If that's right by your place of work then chances are you will see it grow this summer. They tend to hang around an area for the season when they're that new.

Yeah, it's right off Muldoon, so it may stay right there being a city moose. We'll see.

What kind of jelly is this?

Quoted from mtn-:

We did a trade last year. I made some fireweed and red raspberry jelly, as well as blueberry jam. He sent me some maple syrup in exchange. If you look back in this thread there are some pics of the jelly. The fireweed is unique and has a great color to it.

#280 3 years ago

Fireweed was excellent

I sold my Genesis to pick up a youth Can Am. Took the ATV trail on Eklutna lake yesterday with my girls. Nice groomed trail made it a good place for them to get some experience on the wheelers.

Nice...Recently picked up a new Honda. I own a piece of property on a nice little river about 45 minutes north. There are designated roads around Washington that allow street legal licensing for WATV's and all the roads around my property are so designated. Beyond that there are miles of logging roads up into the mountains. Sun has come out so taking off in the next day or two.

Nice looking machine! Those Hondas last forever too.
Pretty much every road up here has an atv trail along the side of it. Troopers are not uptight about being on the roads either.

Rush hour?

#289 3 years ago

Well that was 6am. There are times it gets busier, but nothing like what I have seen in the lower 48. That is a main road right in Anchorage too. The only time I see real traffic is when something happens that shuts down a hiway. Lots of areas where there is only 1 road from place to place with no alternate routes that exist.

Yep. BG is a little flaked though. I always take the head off to transport so it fits in a Jeep Patriot.

That pf is damn nice.
Congrats, one of the favorite machines in my collection.

Well I had a hunt planned this weekend, but we got word our trails washed out, so I decided to do an overnight camp / drive with my dog and my daughter to look for some caribou. Had a great Friday night, but yesterday someone hit my dog. She got out in the road (which gets very little traffic, mostly going slow due to it's cindition) and they never slowed down and didn't stop after. I saw it right in front of me. Luckily my daughter didn't. Thought she was dead, and ran to stop Zoe from coming down. She was a mess when I told her. Somehow the dog got up and came up to us. She was bad, but we had a 4 hr drive to get somewhere for help. Anyway, she spent the night in the vet and today they are putting a chest tube in to help her lung heal. At this point, I just hope she makes it. Sorry to post bad news, but this is my only social outlet and needed to say something.

Was great trip up until this happened. Zoe picked tons of blueberries, but none made it home.
