Quoted from mtn-:

Fascinating. Please keep us updated!

Will do. I found out that it is going to take some time though. The title company will only transfer the deed from someone who has power of attorney if the POA is recent (withing 18 months). Well the property is in his mother in laws name who left the country years ago. She gave him POA so he could sell it should he ever need/want to. He is mailing the docs to her and she will need to sign and notarized and send back. Problem is, she loves in Russia. It will get done, but I could see it taking a while. Right now it looks like I could get down there next weekend to get a closer look. I will grab some pics if I do.
On a good note, one of my cooks at work has a contact in the same tiny town who does work along the lines of clearing and making roads. He also has a mill I believe so I could perhaps get some lumber made from the trees. The guy who is selling the land had an offer of clearing the lot for free if he could keep the timber.
For now I would even be good with using 4 wheelers to access the lot and sleep in a wall tent. I have a nice tent that has a wood burner for heat.

Yeah. Everything is turning green now, too. This has been a great spring so far. Almost every day is mid 50s and sunny. Perfect.

We were pitching several of these power supplies at work and I think they will work for my gq-4x4 burner. I grabbed a couple if anyone needs one. I need to see if it fits the plug in, but it looks like it will. 12v in and I also need to check the polarity.

Quoted from Deaconblooze:

Sure thing. I think flying into Anchorage offers the best chances to go in may directions. If you only stay a week you will wish you stayed longer honestly.
If you have enough time driving to Seward is an amazing trip. Whittier in on the way there and also beautiful. Seward is on the Kenai peninsula and you could spend a few more days and drive to Homer.
North of Anchorage, you could spend a couple days in Denali easily. They have bus tours in the park but they take a full day and well worth the time. Not much scenery north of Denali though.
Talkeetna is on the way to Denali and a great place to stop and check out. If it's the right time of year you can go from Palmer over Hatcher pass to get to Willow and north from there. The pass is beautiful.
If you stay on hiway 1 from Anchorage instead of going to Denali, the matanuska glacier is an hour or so north of Palmer. The trip up is beautiful as well.
Feel free to message me if you want further details. I know a lot of "off the beaten path" places that you won't find in a tour book.

Thanks! I hope you are able to visit too. It's an amazing place to visit and I am blessed to live here. The weather has been amazing all through May, though a little hot the last few days. We were in the high 70s for about 4 or 5 days straight.

Hey I love Alaska as my oldest sister was born there before it was a state. I still say she is Illegal!

Watch the flying as here is some info that you might want to know.

Which us state has the most plane crashes?

That means Alaska's accident rate was more than two times higher than the national average, according to the figures. Alaska had 515 small plane accidents from 2004 to 2008, making up 6 percent of the 8,010 crashes nationally in that period, the analyzed federal data shows.

Yeah. I think a lot of this has to do with the amount of people flying in small craft getting to hard to reach places. I don't personally like to fly anywhere unless it's an emergency. Much of the state is only accessible by plane too.

I don't know if I told this one but years ago maybe around 15 I was looking and found someone who was selling 113 acres along a river and log cabin (not one of the fanny ones but most likely a man built one) and two ATV's. NO ROAD SYSTEM you had to ATV it in located in the middle of Alaska along with all the animals too. Price $98,000.00. I figured that was way to many miles for me to go by myself on an ATV which I have never ridden and open the door to greet the morning to only have a bear have me for breakfast!

I tried to get some kings from Willow creek today but the water was very high due to the heat we have been having. When it's hot too much melt off makes the levels rise and we are almost into flood stage on some of the rivers. I don't think I ever saw the water up to this boardwalk before. Didn't get any bites but still nice to get out and fish. Can catch all the trout I want at my buddies house, but those tiny pin bones drive me nuts. Kings are catch and release but so much fun when you hook into one. It's a little early in the year too but it will pick up over the next 2 weeks.

My friend sent me this. It's from 8 years ago and it has my 3 kids in the pic of him with the fish he caught. Hard to believe how much they have grown in that time.

Yep, catch and release. I don't mind it. You can catch 3 or 4 on a good day or even more, but once you keep one the day is over.
