Quoted from Tomass:Not sure what happened to the babies but momma is by herself now. That can't be good.
Sadly, no. Something got them.
LTG : (
NOOOO they are so cute. I like aminals more than I like humans. She probably leaves them hidden somewhere like a deer?
Quoted from Tomass:It was definitely the same moose too. she had a distinct scar on her shoulder.
Any updates?
I’m rooting for the moose babies. My wife loves mooses and I showed her the pics. Now we are sad trust they may be gone
Thats the definition of the exception that proves the rule.
Im not saying moose are dangerous (unless you perhaps collide with them in your car). But they are wild animals. And should (mostly) be left alone. (Unless its hunting season)
Sorry for derailing your thread @tomass.
Quoted from mtn-:Im not saying moose are dangerous (unless you perhaps collide with them in your car).
Forget about car, I almost hit one on my mountain bike. Happened so quick I didn't even have time to be scared of it's mooseness. As I came flying around a turn my initial thought was "What's that horse doing out here with no rider".
Yeah, they have a crazy streak though. Sometimes they get crazy eyes and you know to stay away.
I saw a nice black bear on the way to work this morning but couldn't get a pic.
Quoted from zr11990:Any news on the mooses?
Haven't seen any of the 3 since. I did see a really cool vid where a baby couldn't make it over the guard rail to get to its momma and had traffic stopped in both directions. A guy waited until the mom wasn't looking and lifted it up and over. I will see if I can get a link for it.
Quoted from Tomass:Good news! Just saw the momma with both babies. She was a little too fast to get a pic though.
Wow that is good news!
That is good to hear. i have been thinking about that moose and her babies and it was kindof sad to think something killed them.
Once again, weekend comes up and cloudy with rain. I had to get out though so we drove over the pass. Yep, all that whinning about winter and i drive up to see more snow.

I'm old, haven't seen a beaver for a while.
So now my son says he is going to drop everything and go live in Alaska. He has to wait a year to get into PT school and he is bored sitting at home waiting. He unloaded on us today that he was going to pack his stuff and go to Alaska and find a job. Im already sad just thinking about it. I love my son and I will miss him.

That is kinda how I did it. I bought a school bus and pulled the seats and packed it to the gills. I wanted to move hear most of my life, but the moment my wife decided she wanted to move here, I jumped on it. Was a great decision but I do miss family.
Are there jobs available? He just graduated from A&M but he is waiting to get into PT school. He doesnt want to live at home and he has nothing tying him down

Yes, lots of jobs. Many people work up north on the slope. They get flown up and work 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off and make bank. There are other rotations than 2 and 2, and if I were young and single I would probably do something like that. As far as physical therapy, I know a lot of medical places are always hiring. It is a great place to live and life happens at a slower pace. Very little traffic is a plus.

I will pass that along

If your son is going into PT or anything to do with medical then AK is a great place to go for a job. My wife spent two plus years in AK and we plan on going back at some point (the weather and our jobs in SB, CA are just so nice right now or we would be back there already)!

Quoted from Tomass:If you like salmon, Sockeye is amazing. One of my cooks brought me 3 nice reds in today.

Damn. Who doesnt like salmon? Those look fantastic.
Yeah, we have 5 species in AK. Kings and silvers are good, but sockeye is my favorite. We won't talk about pinks and chum.

Wow no I want salmon tonight.

Oh man, the salmon in Alaska is amazing... Best I've ever had. Now I need to go back for a third time....
I had salmon jerky up there too - was surprisingly delicious!
Quoted from zr11990:I do not and I love fish. I do like smoked salmon with salty peas but I won’t eat cooked.
Cod is best
So I kinda overpaid for a set of games hoping I can clean them up and fix the Comet that was included to make a small profit or keep one of the vids for my collection. Can anyone tell me the approximate value of a DK jr and a Star Gate? They are all original survivors in a ladies possession since 85. They are really dirty but seem to be cleaning up nice. 2100 for the 3. The Comet has a decent pf but the cab is pretty bad and needs a good bit of work. I will get pics later of the SG since I haven't unloaded it yet. Just got these last night.
