Could you feel your breath freeze in your nostrils? That's a weird feeling.

Coming out of winter is like coming out of a long tunnel. We are up to 10 hours of daylight now! Temp hit 34 yesterday too. Felt like a spring day.
Just had a bald eagle fly over too.

#454 3 years ago

Just had a 5.3 quake. Not far from here. Definitley felt that one.

#455 3 years ago

So much for our 2 days of spring weather.

Tomass, you did it.

I am completely addicted to this thread.

Been checking upwards of twice a day now for any updates.

For the love of all that is Holy, I bump this thread.

Sorry man, winter really gets to me. Last week the snow in out yard finally melted. Gonna do some fishing this year for sure.
I also caught the covid a few weeks back. The whole family had it mild except me. After I thought I was better it came back and wiped me out. Didn't get out of bed for 3 days. Was a rough 3 weeks.
I will say that whisper is loving the sun!

I picked up 2 pins and a Galaxian cocktail last weekend. 500 each pin and 200 for the Galaxian. Didn't really want the Galaxian but now that I have it, it's kinda cool. I also never wanted a Gorgar, but I took it to fix and sell with a buyer lined up already. The other was a Bobby Orr in nice shape.

So aa we were discussing frogs in Alaska, here is a pic of one. We seem to find them every spring.

So incredibly beautiful.

Is that airfield and stretch of highway within Wasilla's borders?

That is Wasilla airport. The other pic is on the way to Anchorage from Wasilla but you can see it from Wasilla.

#473 2 years ago

Im sure there are some trade offs and hardships to living there but man its beautiful. And you are a long way from the reach of the NWO. You can live your life in peace. Also, zombies dont do well in cold.

So this is all that's left of the massive snow pile. Stlll a little left. Don't think it will make it to June, but it was close.

We usually get snow before halloween. This year spring came really late. The weather has been perfect the last 3 weeks or so. Only thing is, its great during the week, then crappy on my days off. We were gonna drive to seward yesterdat, but it was pouring from here all the way there. They said possible wintry mix over the pass.
On a good note we found a great little restaurant in Palmer, Noisy Goose. Everything was really good. They had this display up front. I should have gotten me next to it for comparison. I was tiny compared to this thing.

What's going on with Covid over there? Is it settling down?

#485 2 years ago
Quoted from newpinbin:

Yeah, it never got real crazy. Only Anchorage had a mask mandate up until last month I think. Our borough never forced the masks after the first few months of the start of this pandemic. We rarely see anyone wearing masks and things are back to normal.

Edited.

We have about 5 hours of sun up, but farther north they get a couple months of darkness. It is terrible when its dark when you leave for work and dark when you get home with a glimpse of the sun somwhere in between. Plus the sun never gets very high on the horizon.

#490 2 years ago

Well you do practically live in the North Pole. Have you met Santa?

Had 2 baby moose walk by at work today.

How friendly are those?

#493 2 years ago
Quoted from newpinbin:

About as friendly as 800 pounds of mother with two calves to protect can get.

She can out run you, and stomp you into oblivion, quicker than anything.

Yeah, for sure. More people die from moose than bear.

Quoted from newpinbin:

You really don't mess with them. They are mostly docile and they have no fear of humans for the most part. You could walk up to one and feed it but they can go crazy and just snap.

Just have to be here at the right time. When they are in, they are fairly easy to catch.
