Hey all, I know modding is not for everyone and that's okay we all have our own tastes. For me it is a big part of the hobby I enjoy putting custom features in the pins I love. Here is what I just got done doing to my XMLE. I still have plans in the works for more lighting effects and a possible topper. I've now modded out a XM pro and XMLE and have to say XM is one of my favorite pins to mod out and play. I have replaced all the figures in the pin and added a few. One of the things I love about the additions is none of them obstruct the players view of the field. This was a real PITA to do as I had to saw the Wolverine & Magneto figures in half but I love how it turned out. Thought I'd share with my friends on Pinside and also see what others have done to their XM pins.

Nice work dude, really like the gambit bust figure , looks great . You really need to put mirror blades on that bad boy my friend , there's so much art at the back of the playfield on the plastics etc that doesn't get seen but can be reflected through the mirrors , xmen has one of the best art packages out there, well done with your mods mate..

Thanks man! You are right I do need some blades in there. I think that may be my finishing touch once I get some of the other lighting effects done.

Quoted from modfather:

Very nicely done. ModFather approved

Yes got the ModFather's approval!

Not only that but don't forget about my Leg Light-Ups and beatmasters shooter housing light up. Amber would look great.

YES!!!
XM is a top 5 Stern IMO. Probably my favorite pin of all time that I've played so far. It's also a blast to mod! Here's what I did to mine:
- Fully chromed out via Mike Chestnut: rails, backbox brackets, coin door, legs, and apron.
- Side Mirrors
- Bowen Mini figs added: Beast, Storm, Clops, Magneto.
- Iceman ramp icicles ("innovated" by me, if you want to call it that)
- Custom spot lights added to beast, storm and Clops.
- Custom flasher added to Clops spinner.
- Purple light up Noghtcrawlers.
- Center "X" insert red flasher mod
- Apron lighted "X" mod.
- Custom color gel'd villain inserts.
- Wolvie Shooter rod
- Blue lit flipper buttons.
- "X" icon RGB lighted speaker inserts.
- Laseriffic Wolvie topper
- Color DMD
- Molvie Newton bracket upgrade
- "X" flipper icons
- Switch green start button out for yellow one.
- RGB undercab integrated lighting

I love love love this game.

Defiantly the most deluxe X-Men I have seen. The chrome trim looks great. I always meant to track down one of those Storm figures as it matches the flat plastic that is already in the game so well.

Now for the criticism....no tourney button (or something) in the tourney button hole???

One of the more subtle mods I did on my XM:Magneto was to cut and place colored gels for the Villian inserts. The colors were kinda meh, so I spend some time picking out gels from a sample pack... Each insert color coordinates with the villian and the colors/shades are quite unique.

Great job Dude! Never thought you could top your pro however you somehow did!

I was hoping you'd post some pics. Looks like you have the same Magneto figure can you believe I cut it off the base cape n all? I have no idea how you squeezed the stock figure in there! Chrome looks phenomenal no doubt!! Is it a PITA to keep clean? I pondered doing this but just didn't want to spend the cash if it was a hassle.

Thanks for the kind words guys!! Looks so much better in person. I'll have to shoot some pics in the light. Lighting changes & additions have made a big difference. Put Comet opti max in some GI added flasher effects make the game really stand out. I'll also have to try and dig up some pics of my old pro I know I have some.

Great idea I'm going to give that a shot. Any advice on best type/brand to use?

I do like the look and how you designed them but must say for some reason I hate the oversized protectors and was so glad when Stern made the metal (now plastic) inserts in leg area so they are no longer necessary.

Anyone have a recommendation for best backbox light mod out there?

Here's my personal lighting mods. Ramps and X-Men inserts light up.
Check out the lighting in 2:25 ->

I don't own it anymore, but the lighting was sick!

Pinball refinery is a must for any backbox lighting. Gio and Steve kick ass.

Back panel details ( How To )

NOTE: These were later changed to DUAL Flex heads for greater light dispersion.

Center X Insert ( How To )

FWIW: These vids (how to and running) are my non-public vids - just don't think most peeps would wanna watch that stuff

I have the blackbird mod too like rcade, pic taken with PDI glass on. Any links on the Storm figure. I wish some one would make a 3-D printed Sentinal head to put in the back right corner with flashing eye like it was destroyed. I like the X-men logo under the aprons, but what about Deadpool. Please someone make some Kick@$$ mods for this game.

Haha! Yeah, that's nuts how you cut the base off of Magneto, you're savage! With mine I just shaved off the top of his head and then color matched the gray and painted it and you can't even tell it's shaved off in there because of the perspective with the glass on.

The chrome ain't a hassle at all, a quick wipe down with one of my cleaning cloths and it's ready to go. Smudges and gets fingerprints on it quick, but it's too gorgeous with this game to NOT have it chromed out!

Plus, it just makes too much sense to have an "Adamantium Edition" Wolvie LE

If you have not already made and installed this backbox light mod, you are really missing out on the killer artwork on the translite. It looks so much better than the tube light.
