1/ where is a good place to tap a 12v supply line? Ideally I want it to light up with the GI.
I tried tapping the GI but it is 6V so they are not that bright.
2/ Stupid question but will DC leds run on an AC current?
3/ Those of you who have done this mod - did you wire it up to the backbox or under the playfield?
Either way will be a bit of fun and games getting the cables threaded!!
I'm thinking to put the wires in the black cable tubes for protection - is this what you did?

Get a multimeter and find a 12v source that is on all times in the game for the strip you have?(most modern led's will run ac or dc) I used 2 Comet pinballs MATRIX 20 SMD 8 Inch 6.3V Strip in amber $12.00 and soldered two together and ran up to back backbox , soldered to bare wire leads and used heat shrink and zip ty's to keep them in order, used a 3/4" 90 degree aluminum angle from hardware store $6.00 to stick them too and modded that to fit behind sign.. here is the result ..
