My name is Mark, new member and first-time poster. Just wanted to share a couple photos of some custom pistol grips I recently installed on my Shadow. The grips are hand-carved from giraffe legbone. The shooter was plated in black nickel with a chrome trigger by Mike Chestnut.

Thank you for the compliments! Unfortunately the grips are not a standard size; they must be made specifically to fit this game.

And yes, I often run into the guns on my games as well.

Upon further reflection, I may have gone with the camel leg bone, not the giraffe. Not 100% certain, but I believe it is camelbone.

The grips look better in person than the pictures show. Another bonus is the feel - the gun feels more "legit" now than it did before with the plastic grips.

The gentleman who carved my grips also carves in wood and other materials for those opposed to bone/antler/horn materials. His website is:

The grips on Shadow are not standard 1911 grips; 1911 grips require modification to fit correctly. Off-the-shelf grips will not work without at least some customization.

Your grips are super cool, Blackjacker! Where did you get those made?

Really nice work Blackjacker. Did you have to send the gun mechanism to the grip maker for fitting?
